Timecode Sync Multiple Panasonic GH4 Cameras Multi-Cam Editing FCPX

One interesting thing I just discovered. I have a GH3 as well as a GH4. The time on the GH3 is always 1 tor 2 seconds ahead of the GH4, which is exact match with my iPhone. Something strange with the time on the GH3 it looks like.

What is the best way to jam sync a GH4 recording to the Atomos assassin to an external audio recorder with timecode input and output, such as the zoom f4?

I guessing that it's using the time from Apple/the iPhone, so if you have another cam with an iPhone app that does the same time sync service then you could have multiple cams from different brands too! Does Sony have an app for the A7S, FS5 & FS7 etc??

I am only 3 minutes into the video so maybe you answered this but are you able to have time code as the name of the clip? For example, when I transfer the footage onto my computer it shows up as "P79834783" or something like that where I want the Time Code stamp as the name. Is that possible?

Thanks for that handy suggestion! As you mentioned, the sync is not frame accurate. I guess the deviation should be mostly less than one second between the clips, because I assume the time sent by the smartphone during sync is formated like "hh.mm.ss". So, what is your experience with time code drift between the cameras? Like, say, after an one hour shooting with multiple GH4s?

Hi I was trying to do all step by step as per your instruction however after clicking multi-came on the FCPX the program does see only first shoot from first camera and after that is one black line with no footage showing. Will you have any idea what I'm dooing wrong pls?

Have you successfully preformed this process with the GH5? Do you have a video? So far I have been unsuccessful with the GH5.

Is it work between GH4 and GH5 ? When I connected with GH5 after GH4 and tap for Time sync button My app told me: "The connected camera does not support location logging" . Any idea?

im having real problem getting tc in on my gh4 into premiere... i use media browser and ive copied the whole PRIVATE folder and it it doing the linking of clips into one long clip so it must be seeing things right but when I look at the timecode - it stays blank. There is metadata for DATE SHOT which is correct but no timecode. Im shooting in AVCHD not mov. Any ideas?

What key on the keyboard you used to cut from camera to camera.

Just tried this today (July 2021) with 3 pieces GH4 camera. None of the times matched at all. They were as much as 30 seconds different. I was using the wireless adhoc method to connect to the cameras (scanning QR codes to make new connection). Would it be more reliable to do this over a WiFi network? Might have to try that tomorrow.

Do you know how to do this on the gh5.the sync app the options geo... are greyed out🤦🤷‍♂️
