Floyd fan or years and I love High Hopes and Lost For Words, but you can't help but notice that the lyrics are a little shallow and flowery compared to Rogers concise, insightful, very human and at times cutting masterpieces. Dave and Richard definitely were the music, but Roger was without doubt the man of words.
What a pity they can't go back over the horizon and back to the place when they were young before the Division Bell rang. Unfortunately they had reached The dizzy heights of that dreamed of World and things between them could never be the same again.


Sad, but pretty much in tune with Rogers overriding lyrical drift on the human condition being affected by time, surroundings, money, success and fears.

Usualy SACD version of pink floyd album are much better than this even in the 5.1 mode, i have the live album version on bluray and it's by far better than those kind of binaural bullshit.

The perfect final song on the perfect final album (Endless River was an afterthought). Obviously a Cambridge song.

What kind of headphones shoud be use in this? At least with my Koss headphones, the original mix sounds much better. In this one, the vocals are on too low level.

It's no secret that "Poles Apart" was aimed at Waters. Always felt as if this was a sort of a more positive - if not quite bittersweet - side to the same coin. As if to wrap up the whole legacy neatly, but leaving a door always ajar. "With friends surrounded..." so many references to a better time in all of their lives. Wonderful poetry from Sampson but really, all the pain and jubilance is in that slide solo.

This is a killer track. Polly Sampson made a big difference in their lyric-writing.

I have been listening to this song for over 20 years and my heart skips a beat every time.

This song is amazing and this solo is a masterpiece! A masterpiece with life, that invades your soul, that fills your eyes and that is able to take you to the deepest of thoughts...this guitar screams and seems to cry. It's all so characteristic. The piano at the beginning with the bells... I love this song too much to be able to express everything I feel when it invades my soul...
