Wouldn't the starter burn our with the continuous 200 amp relay ? I working on a stock 68 dart with slant 6 and stock ammeter, I'm thinking of doing this mod along with 1 wire alternator upgrade . (Context)
Ответитьwhere does the volt meter wire witch one do you use?
ОтветитьVery clear explanation thank you for video
ОтветитьFinally, something that makes sense. Thank you, thank you, thank you.. I love your demeanor and astute understanding. It makes me feel like I CAN do this.
ОтветитьHi. I had several ideas bounce in my head watching this video regarding a task I am trying to accomplish. I need to turn the charging of the alternator off via a on/off switch located on the center console. I would flip the swich off after I do a burnout and on the staging lights. Then after the race, I would like the alternator charging to resume by mearly flipping the switch to on. My bettery is in located in the stock location up front and no master switch on the rear of the car. Is this how to do easly stated? Thank you for your video and time. Well done.
ОтветитьI have a slightly different set up but mainly the alternator. Engine is an ECM controlled Ford racing Coyote with the appropriate Ford alternator. A "1 wire" with a connector from the PCM/ECM. My question: will your set up work with just the 1 wire alternator output to the battery? My battery is in the rear so I've upped the wire size to carry the amperage.
ОтветитьThank you for teching
Ответитьdude, i'm so grateful that I found you man. I want to understand car electronics, but everyone talks over my head. This is SO much more digestible!
So in effect is a solenoid just a bigger beefier Relay?
Bypass the ammeter ?
Ответитьwhat is the brand/part # of the one way diode to protect the starter/where to order. thank you.
ОтветитьLord help… I’m gonna be a wiring genie-ass…😂 I know some stuff like how relays work and all that but I never had a clue about what a diode was… Thanks again for explaining everything in a simple way. That’s definitely something I needed to learn about because I use to drag race back in the day and I wasn’t far from needing a battery disconnect and a roll cage and all that mess.
ОтветитьThank you for doing these videos they are a huge help man. Thank you
ОтветитьHi Jeremy great stuff as usual. I would be very grateful for your help? I am wiring from new a Meyer Manxter beach buggy LWB. It is VW based with an air cooled VW beetle engine. The battery is in the same place as in the original beetle under the rear seat. My plan is to run a positive or live cable from the battery to the ignition switch in the dash board and then on to the fuse board in the front trunk of the car. I plan to fuse this cable near the battery with an in-line midi fuse. The question is what amp-age for both the fuse and the cable to be safe. I planned to use a 63amp cable thin wall which is 8.5 mmm squared, but I have been advised that this is insufficient, what do you think?
ОтветитьI keep burning my solenoid when I try to start my 68 f100 3 in the past 2 days. Why is it getting so hot that it melts the internals I am just trying to start the truck.
ОтветитьHello Jeremy , how did you set up to send 3-12v electricity to the car Alternator on your bench to start charging and then to stop that electricity not to burn out the diod inside the alternator ?
ОтветитьBrilliant
ОтветитьThe best informative video, Well explained with perfect examples.
Ответитьyou're videos are top notch and very informative. the content is excellent and you have a great way of teaching. subscribed!!
ОтветитьThese wiring videos are invaluable. It's nice to understand the how and why. I'm watching again, trying to troubleshoot a no charge issue. Suspect of my exciter wire.
ОтветитьYou are the best Good job, my friend.👍🏻
ОтветитьBest video ive ever seen....Best 30 minutes ive donated to myself...Amazing how much I "get" now...Thanks a ton
ОтветитьQuick question, when you switched the ignition switch to the start position the fuse box lost power and the light went out. Wouldn't the car be unable to start as there would be no power to spark/injectors?
Ответитьman what a interesting video! thanks for taking the time i do not do this type of work but its very interesting to see how it work
Ответитьwow!!! the best video thaks!!!!!
ОтветитьThis is a lifesaver. Trying to wire a 48 Ford that was started but not finished. This will definitely help me figure out exactly what I need to do! Sub’d!!
ОтветитьWhat size fuse did you use going to the ignition switch? My ignition switch is rated at 100 amps, but I wasn't sure if I should actually be putting a 100 amp fuse in that line. So I was curious what you used.
ОтветитьThank you for posting this series and helping me grasp the boogeyman that is automotive wiring. Think a car is hard?? Try a 33 yr old motorhome that was wired and rewired countless times by different people, not all of them knowledgable. I have lots of accessories to account for and that's before even tackling the 120VAC side of things. Anyway, I'll be using your videos as a reference.
ОтветитьTowards the end you mention many fuses in the system. Are those only necessary when the battery is in the trunk?
ОтветитьI'm working on a 1956 Jeep that has no fuse panel, just a few junction blocks and each circuit has its own inline fuse. This has helped me greatly. I currently have a 3 wire alternator as in your video. How do I know what size diode to use? Its a 65 amp alternator. Thanks
ОтветитьI ha have learned more information in the first 5 minutes of your video than reading and watching any video or book I have ever read. Just slow down I had to slow the video down to right and draw your setup. I’m not sure why I need a continual solenoid wouldn’t the switch do the same thing.
ОтветитьWant to come help me wire my hooptie?!
ОтветитьCall me thick but i don't see the point of the continuous solenoid, surely i could just connect the accessory wire straight from the ignition switchcto the fusebox no?
ОтветитьThanks for your great video.
ОтветитьGreat job on the video! I like how you made it look so simple. I could have really used this video about fifteen years ago when I wired up my dad’s 57’ Chevy. I got it done but, this would’ve made the process go so much faster. Thanks for sharing your experience!
ОтветитьI have tried to understand this stuff for years and never seen anyone explain it down to my level any better than you. I have a 1936 Plymouth coupe and the wire harness was toast. I bought a standard 12 fuse wire harness that suppose to work for most cars but mine was born a 6 volt and the starter is foot pedal. This video gave me a jump start but I see it's going to be tough.
ОтветитьYou are a great instructor.
Ответитьthat was good. But it is out of focus. At first, I thought I was going blind. Other then that though ...
ОтветитьIn another video you said to have a "mega fuse" between starter and battery as close to battery as possible, now that there is the solenoid you still need the fuse correct?
ОтветитьI have a atv and wonting to put a switch into ignition to stop power when key is on if i cut the solid red wire on ignition side not the harness side and bring power from live on battery with a switch ive already tried it with some wire and it powers up as it should i just dont no if it will charge the battery still would it still charge the battery like this? Cheers
Ответитьanyone keen on sharing diagram work. would like to get another set of eyes on mine
Ответитьso that light coming odd the alternator should be the same light in my cluster?
ОтветитьI have to thank you for your vidios they have enabled me to build a complete wiring harness on my new historic rally car THANK YOU .
ОтветитьWell shoot...i should have done mine this way and eliminated alot of my acc. Activated relays feeding off my fuse block...dang it
Ответитьbest video
Ответитьwhat size Diod for solenoid and alternator???
ОтветитьI don't have a degree in Electrical Engineering either but I can read and I have wired stuff up that still work without issues
Ответить
