Doesn't the water cooling kind of make the c omparison unfair, because if water cooling isnt used then we could see what the actual performance would be. The thermal limit is very importand because now that its under water we cant see the performance with thermal throttling. Without either chip thermally throttling how can the average user see what performance they would actually get? I have had an intel mobile chip and it throttled like crazy, which would change all the results.

I got the 6600H and it's a beast. I don't think you can go wrong with either to be honest.

the power limit is not very useful in practice here, when it is said that at 80w PL, the intel still uses more watt. What would be sensible to do here would be to measure powerdraw off the wall and power limit the intel so that it draws the same amount of power during the test results. i looked days for some data that i can use to assess wether the larger max power draw will be an issue in my daily workflow. i found one source claiming intel using down to 20% the consumption of the amd in standby. this would likely offset the real life battery duration towards very identical results. and if you clock down the boost clock, my bet is that you can in fact achieve even better power consumption than the amd, but no tests are suggesting this as they just unbox and throw cinebench at it. a kia picanto can go 22 km per liter at optimal speed, but if you push it to 140 km/h, you are looking at a 5-7 km/L consumption.

i7-12700H for desktop, home use. It's a no-brainer. 6800H if you truly need battery life unplugged and or found some sick discount, huge gap in price and refuse to pay 200/300 dollars/euros for the i7 one.

For pc gaming i’ll go with intel, i much prefer intel imo but for laptops i go for amd cuz its justs give u more battery life and u need that to go on adventures otherwise stay on the pc side cuz laptops are only for work and gaming on the go

amd laptop actually can run at max ghz and not overheat and thats why it wins with 8 cores vs 14, how a 7700x 300$ is stronger than a 13600k 350$, the 7700x can run on air coolers without problems

AMDs battery life in my opinion is way better than intel because of 6nm. intel performance is better but semiconductor process is still at 10nm. For a laptop AMD makes more sense I guess.

A good review with lots of useful information. I would love to see an updated test using a more common setup, sans liquid cooling. By using the XMG/Liquid setup, this was more of an XMG Intel vs XMG Ryzen test than a 12700h vs 6800h test. I understand the desire to rule out thermal limits, but since this option isn't available to the overwhelming majority of us, it may not have the same impact.

I'm on the verge of buying a Legion 5 Pro (based largely on your Best of Laptop video). I'm going AMD 6900hx over 12700h. Both are priced identically and share the same specs other than the cpu. I've yet to see a direct comparison but based on a lot of your videos, and some others, I'm assuming that:

1. The 6900hx will perform slightly better than the 6800h. (based on some of your other videos...thanks)
2. The AMD will perform much better than the Intel when on battery. (also based on some of your other videos..thx)
3. The Intel is more likely to heat throttle when not hooked up to a liquid cooler.
4. The laptop will be cooler to the touch and, therefore, more pleasant to use.

These are assumptions, albeit educated ones. They are also the real-world considerations many will prioritize over an idealized benchmark comparison. As a subscriber and regular viewer, I'd love to see a video to confirm that.
