ОтветитьBuildings do have social impact, and we can design buildings for social impact.

ОтветитьAbout tools that the architect uses: They should start making professional level rulers and other bookstore products available, because to this date, there have been none. How they except for someone to work in a desktop in a job that demands professional level tools, when none of them are manufactured anywhere in the world? There are none in your local shops and none available through the internet. How can these jobs be carried out? Computers are not ready to handle a job like architects. It still demands paper tools, and they are not manufactured or available anywhere. The architects of this time has to work with school level plastic desktop supplies. If you have any care for the level of the buildings that are built today, you would demand better service for this profession. There are not even enough books or information available or in the possession of mankind to build proper buildings from the beginning to the end, because those responsible of producing that information has not done their jobs. The university and the technical schooling system has failed altogether in the last decades, or from the beginning. They have not done anything in the field of producing information to use for the professions, which would have been their job. We are not even in the level of the 70's, not even near it, when you see what the demands were then. The level of information and materials is lacking behind a something like 100 years, when you see the responsibilities that every decade and the people of it should have done and what demands there have been on the level of the concurring modern time. All the time, all the decades they have been only pretending that they work instead of doing anything in reality, in responsible positions. The information and material they should have produced, is completely new and does not exist in anywhere before that. And that means the basics and the surrounding information of every profession that they need, and what the modern day with its cities and populations demands to be sensible and normal. This is a major ill-service and wrong-doing against everyone. If the producing of this information starts in the 2020's, it all should have been done a long time ago and has been awaiting to this date from then. This is what the generations before us have done. This is something that is visible from the materials and from other places that are available.
To repeat myself: All the basic information of all professions are undone and completely new, and are awaiting to be produced, which could begin in the 2020's or later on, if possible. This is the situation today.
Architecture is the most important and missing subject that there is, and something should be done with it. This profession can not be acquired with the materials that are today available or existing. They just suppose that it would all just come from nowhere, to the people. It's like homelessness. No-one ever dares to talk anything about it, and has lacked always all the publicity that would be meant to it. In fact, better buildings and better architecture would mean less homelessness. Buildings today are too crammed and poorly designed to serve people how they should. Building new buildings is turned in to a malpractice and is taken over by the people that are the least wanted in there. Those people that do not understand anything about buildings. They just think that every material and solution could be replaced with the worst possible options that this modern day offers. This includes the use of plastic, which does not belong anywhere in a building and does not belong to building materials of any kind. This way you make very unwise decisions and leave all the consequences to happen in the future, because it should have not been done in this way. Wisdom is something that belongs to how buildings are thought, and is what every construction worker and other professionals that are involved should know. This includes the use of better building materials. Today, buildings are not even designed, in a way that counts, they are just put together from materials or parts brought from elsewhere, to avoid as much of the real and responsible challenges that there is.
I'm a carpenter I've been a carpenter for twenty five years and I've just recently learned and understand the design of all things. Our life status was design for a number of reasons the main reason is control and another is oppression. We need to redesign everything.
Ответить🙏
ОтветитьThis is inspiring and impactful. Im a designer that sees the same problem with daily workers.
We are with them most of our lives 👍🏼👍🏼 brilliant!!
we like future architects need to think about how we can create spaces to live, to feel, to share. to create memories each others, not all the important projecta are big or colorfulls, any place that can create a good memorie for people it's a good architecture.
ОтветитьGood intro. Like her style!
ОтветитьNo one in this comments section lives in the real world
ОтветитьGreat presentation
I loved Liz
All together for the impact
A beautiful speaker with a beautiful speech.
ОтветитьJust loved this presentation ❤️
Ответитьdesigns that make social impact is great reflection and key take away for your lecture, thanks for the wonderful change together with communities,
ОтветитьArchitects are culture makers, that is what I call myself.
ОтветитьI want to be an architect when Im older. I still have grade 9 ,10,11 and 12 until I go to Uni. and for my grade 10 personal project, I want to do something related to architecture and globolization and sustainability.
Ответить2020!
ОтветитьI absolutely love her
ОтветитьVery intelligent and well presented 😎
ОтветитьVery inspiring, thank you! The Fountainhead should have a toxicity warning label applied ...
ОтветитьGreat talk--I would change only one word--but the creative solutions and thought were impressive.
ОтветитьIdeo always worth !
ОтветитьIf you want to know more about topics like this google Anarchitecture and place making :)
ОтветитьSemantics.
ОтветитьThis is absolutely amazing. I am in awe and most definitely, beautifully inspired. Thank you for your work, Liz. You are a world changer.
ОтветитьThe ultimate opportunity for communities is to Be a part of the global community. Be with The One, a common musical cultural practice, of successful communities. Groovism is the belief in the proliferation potentials of our instinct to Groove. "Be with The One" is no longer an esoteric Zen phrase, we now can create The One to be gathered upon. As was foreseen, this unifying of humanity will instigate miraculous, evolutionary miracles!
ОтветитьAnother delusional leftist activist talking about how amazing and great they are.
ОтветитьI do not believe that architects have the power to design with social impact. The form of the building is mostly dictated by the planning authority and the developers. In reality most of the architects job are project architects that coordinate with the planning, clients, contractors and consultants. Design is only very small part of the job nature. I think if architects can design building with good aesthetic and functional quality that is already very successful.
ОтветитьTo design for social impact is what I love and love what I do when what I have designed impacts lives, especially life long willing learners. I beam when I see them fly away like an eagle. So my AIM Global Team name is Soaring Eagles (A1). This video complements it all. In Lae AIM Global is looking for Private Schools willing to enroll children who are members or whose parents are members of AIM Global from grades 9-12. It will be subsidized by AIM Global so parents can save money to educate them at Universities from 2019 on wards.
ОтветитьOK i'm an architect, after a few years of struggle i realized that, the most important part of the design is the storytelling based in the territory (people, enviroment, economics, etc) and how this story would shape every aspect in the architectural or urban intervention, so i'm 100% agree with her, let's forget about the architect let's focused in the Territory.
BTW i love the fountainhead LoL, but i watched the movie when i was already an architect, and the struggles were real.
Great presentation. You do awesome work.
Ответитьour tradition affect the economic development .
ОтветитьIn my opinion the best and most innovative architects respond to the actual needs of the community - well done doing the hard work of digging into these projects, seeing people's actual needs, and responding. However something missing from this talk was an example that succeeded in the built world and the impact of that success.
ОтветитьI don't know Is it's the microphone, or her voice, but I feel like she is speaking on two different notes
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьThis is when you know that you waisted all your education on nothing
This lecture is literary the definition of the one who doesn’t know why he is an architect or why architecture for

day labourers! Wow, the poverty within America is just astounding
ОтветитьI usually don't listen til the end of TED talks but she got me hooked on her story telling skills. I love her approach to architecture
Ответитьyour not an architect. your work seems good for society but its not architecture, u just have the degree....and you cant even handle the truth
Ответитьincredible! Liz Ogbu such an inspiration.
ОтветитьYou're still practicing architecture. You're designing pathways and structures that empower people.
Ответитьyes you are best with best ideas to be architect that change....
ОтветитьHer out door bit of a fail job centers cum bus shelters failed and that was nothing to do with her failure but the racism of a bad economy and shortage of illegals? Right..
ОтветитьDesigning opportunities for impact?
Foolish me I thought architects built crap.
Anything besides cook stove discoveries and public grants to show for your overpriced degree?
