I had more success on the capture mission.
Survival was a disaster.
One round i think i even spent 30min for 1 code :P
I dont really have luck in general but that was such a turnoff i stick with capture.
Iv'e played a few rounds with synoid helicore on a Volt instead, feels a bit more fun but less codes.

You could also use Equinox night to put them asleep if you don't have Ivara.
