Travelled to Cancun from the UK in Jan 2023. The airport was a complete nightmare, queues (lines) were really long, baggage reclaim took 2 hours, private transport didn't turn up as we were late. Took Peso cash but everything was in dollars and they charged more in Pesos if you worked out the exchange rate.

Everything was so expensive in Mexico and the best day was when we went to Cozumel.

In conclusion, we wouldn't rush back to Mexico as it is really wasn't a relaxing place to go.

Should’ve gotten your foreign currency at your bank because they’ll give you the exact value of the dollar in Mexico or better. If you fly out of Tijuana or live near the border the exchange rate there is also great in local foreign exchange stores. Exchanging the dollar within Mexico is ALWAYS a loss because they give you less.

Overall, this video has some decent information but there’s a some inaccurate information in here too. You exchanged cash at an airport exchange place? Don’t bring a debit card because? Bring your debit card, go to a bank ATM at a bank and get pesos Much cheaper than the airport exchange euro anywhere in the world.

Great video, also gave me a great laugh. She says “of course the rental car guy said there are no issues with renting a car, however our driver, that drives us every time we come, said it’s no safe.” Cracked me up because for the same reason that the rental guy will tell you it’s safe (to make money) the driver you always hire, will say it’s not safe.

I suppose if you are confining your time to a resort then your advice is sound, but I think it's fear mongering to dissuade people from renting a car when visiting the Yucatan penensula.

If you are the type of person who enjoys adventure and having a more authentic cultural experience when you travel, then a rental car is a must. When my family visits Quinta Roo and Yucatan (me, my husband, my kids, and my mom), we get a rental car and generally stay in AirBnBs so we have the freedom to explore wherever and whenever we want. Mexico is so much more than all inclusive resort vacations. Don’t get me wrong. Resorts have their place, but that's not everyone’s cup of tea or within budget.

Yes, there are certainly things one must have knowledge of when renting a car and driving in Mexico, but most of the precautions are the same as what would be needed when driving in any densely populated city in the U.S. or Europe. There are dozens of blog posts out there with information and tips about driving rental cars in Mexico for those interested. And of that is you, don't be afraid! Be smart, prepared, and aware, just as you should no matter where you travel.

Never use USD in Mexico SMH!!! When you go eat at local restaurants or street vendors they will devaluate your dollar and give you 2 pesos less than the true exchange value of your USD. Exchange the USD in the U.S , I would recommend half and half.

It's not true about renting cars in cancun, i rent a car once or twice a year and never have a problem, your spy just want extra money from you, because when you rent a transportation is not for multiple families, when they take more than one the drivers keep the money
