I use the Aqara…for my closet door to turn on/off lights. Sounds like I won’t be changing batteries maybe ever.
ОтветитьGreat video as usual. You have really helped me set up my system. Any suggestion for a really loud siren that I can link up with my home automation set up? Google home.
ОтветитьGreat Info and testing. However you didn't test the SONOFF DW2 sensor. No hub required and last.
ОтветитьIs there such a thing as a sensor that connects via WiFi to the home router without needing a hub?
ОтветитьAwesome video. Thank you
ОтветитьAmazing work. Thanks
ОтветитьSlowly changing my sensors over to Ring (from Samsung multipurpose). What I like about Ring is how easily it is to remove the sensor to replace the batteries. For your next updated video on this subject, maybe add the distance to register the change event as windows and doors are seldom flush. I'm sure the Ring sensor's battery life can be improved by changing the heartbeat interval but this video is about the OOB experience.
ОтветитьVery good job with this test 👍
ОтветитьI love the content, and anyone who can show us some real-world testing on their smart devices.
That said, I need to comment on logo design... black background, white text, orange highlights... It looks like a certain type of "hub," but not a smarthome hub, y'know what I mean?
I purchased a 3 pack and connected them to my Smartthings hub. They were a little difficult to pair but finally got them working. Since then I have had nothing but trouble with them going offline. I have to re-pair them constantly.
ОтветитьHello! Is possible to use aqara door sensor as starter in google home? It doesnt look that way. Pls! Help me automate my yeelight lights using aqara door sensor 😅
ОтветитьDo i need a hub for the yolink?
ОтветитьDo I need an aqara smart wall switch and a door and window sensor to have a light go on in my closet ?
ОтветитьGot the m2 hub and was surprised at the speaker in there.. Interested to know if it can be leveraged to announce stuff like door opening etc.
ОтветитьNever heard of or considered Aqara but I’m definitely interested now, as I currently use Smarthings! Thanks for a well put together comparison and breakdown!🙌🏾
ОтветитьI have more than 10 GS-WDS07 (EV1527 chip)from Aliexpress those cost like 7 USD now. If paierd with a 433MHZ hub (i have a tasmotized Sonoff RF), is the best deal imo. Cheap and reliable, and also pretty. I use them everywhere ( on a dumb AC unit to know if is on, on windows/doors, hooked on a pressure sensor in my sofa to detect sitting there etc. They work with a standard AAA battery and they work a pretty damn long time.
Ответитьgreat vid. Thx man
ОтветитьGreat video! Really great. I have sonoff and is very weak. Not recommended
ОтветитьSo much regret that I invested in the Aqara sensors in my Home Assistant via ZHA. 95% of my ZigBee network issues are from my Aqara contact and temperature sensors. I realized, too late, this is well documented in online forums. Buyer beware!
ОтветитьThanks for being on point and not wasting anyone's time.
ОтветитьYou keep talking about $20 being a good competitive price, but tuya door sensors are less than half that without any sales.
ОтветитьHuge thanks for the video, you do save a lot of time for many people. Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьAqora - $18, ZigBee 1(slow, less accurate, drain battery faster) uses button battery $$
Tuya - $5, ZigBee 3.0 ( fast, accurate, uses less battery) uses 2xAAA battery
Looks like promoted review
Ok, great sensors but none as invisible as what i made
ОтветитьThanks for your test of battery life, best i'be seen. Have anywone tried the battery life of a door sersor with AAA (LR03) battery?
ОтветитьGood video as usual. BUT followed your links and started looking for alarm systems using these sensors they don't seem to exist and aqara are useless don't really answer my questions. All the alarm systems seem to use RF 433Mhz not the 2.4Ghz of this protocol. So to be honest cannot see what anybody would use these for if they are not used in home alarm systems
ОтветитьYou make no mention that the Aqara hub is required for full functionality. I bought the sensors for Alarmo, they were only recognized as switches by my Zigbee hub. I read oh, yea, you need the Aqara hub then they’ll be recognized. $50 later, yep they are correctly recognized, but I can’t pair the freakin hub with HA for the life of me. So sure they may be great sensors, but they flat out do not integrate with HA natively. You have to do a pair unpair repair dance with Apple HomeKit that I apparently have not quite figured out yet. I think I’ve spent a lifetime of turning switches on and off and adjusting my own thermostat in time spent messing with Home Assistant lately.
ОтветитьNahhh I recommend u guys to check
Rodann Electronics Wireless Driveway Alarm
I been use it in my business more then 5 years and still working fine
Please update this for thread/matter compatible sensors.
ОтветитьI just tried the Aqara sensors for three weeks now and my experience have been really poor. After the first week, I started noticing it would miss alerts. Door completely open and wouldn’t register. And for those wondering, I have a pretty robust Zigbee mesh (as well as Zwave). It’s unfortunate bc I really wanted to like it.
ОтветитьThis remains the definitive test to this day!
ОтветитьAmazing well done comparison! Thanks for this video!
ОтветитьAquare works with nest thermostat ?
ОтветитьThansk for the test. i followed your linkto order 10 pcs from Aliexpress. i hope you received your reward.
ОтветитьBro, these videos are just way too extra. Chill man. 😝
Seriously superb science and communication skills.
Great video, but I think you could mention that Aqara devices are not fully ZigBee compliant, so you'll have problems pairing with hubitat hubs, for example. Some people manage to pair them and they run well (with a driver), but most complain about loss of connectivity and unreliability. I think that should factor heavily on the ratings for the Aqara sensors. I'm returning the two I bought right now.
ОтветитьRING is garbage
Ответитьaqara doesn't support smart things, it is even saying that aqara hub is required on your screenshot from amazon.
ОтветитьCan I use the Aqara sensors with a Google Nest Hub (gen 2)? Or do I need an Aqara Hub? I have been looking for days and can’t find a straight answer from anyone’s posts
ОтветитьI had read about this aqara sensors failing if they are connected to a repeater that is not aqara, could you give us some hint about this? Thanks, nice channel!
ОтветитьHi! Have you considered to test the 'Eve Window Guard' or the 'Eve Door & Window' and who they compare to the other sensors? I like the fact that they are already 'Thread' compatible which could or will be the future communication technology for smart home.
ОтветитьThanks for your video Rob. I was planning to invest on some door sensors but i only have Google Home devices and a lot of hue lights. Will the Aqara door sensor work with the GH & routines to turn on/off the Hue lamps?
Thanks again 👍
does the aqara require a base station or can you just hook it up to a wifi connection and get notifications on my mobile phone ?
ОтветитьGreat video. I need an outdoor sensor and dont want to use a cloud based Lora device.
ОтветитьInstalike when I saw your testing machine for battery life. You rock
Ответитьhi, which door sensor can I ask: it is closed or open?. I want making such a trigger: if I live the house and the sensor is open, then turn on something, or send a message, etc... Thanks.
ОтветитьIt would have been helpful to mention the model of the sensors you used since there are different versions of the Aqara sensor looking all the same. Did you test the MCCGQ11LM, MCCGQ12LM or MCCGQ14LM version?
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thank you for the research sir.
