Every enterprise dell and hp box I've seen (and I've been in corporate IT for decades) has a permeate Windows license. If you're getting a used PC, an enterprise version is going to be the best.

This is the kind of PC you buy for Grandma and Grandpa. Their only going use for it the internet and it has distracting lights to show off to their friends.

If you can get these at a good price and throw another $80 to $100 into it they make a perfect gift for a neice or nephew getting into gaming

IDK about the 490 dollar one being a good value when that's about what it would have cost me in parts to build my home theater PC which is infinitely more powerful with a R5 4500, 16GB of ram and a RTX 2070 Super and has no issues playing newer titles if I wanted to,(like if it were something I'd rather use a controller for).

It prolly wouldn't be bad if you could fit a decent gpu in, but even then...you could spend a lil more and get far better results, although I do wish more modern pcs had disk drives for movies and what have you XD

So are these pieces of shit worth buying as a temp computer? My idea is to get one because I need something now, and wait until the hardware I really want is available or cheaper? I shan't be doing any gaming btw.

It's not a secret, since channels like tech yes city, ltt and others started spreading fancy ways of building "gamer" pcs with the massive chinese bulk of optiplex servers with cheap xeons, this became a market on its own, and within each market there are even more ways to sweeten the pot even more like these makeup companies.
After all it's a cool business model, they buy them for like 20/30 bucks each (advantages of bulk buying) and end up selling them for 300 each.

By avoiding e-waste, and helping countries and people in needs, I'm genuinely happy with these.

Hell, an SFF office PC with GPU seems surprisingly tempting as they fit in one of my favorite suitcases and could be a very nice LAN party PC.

I got my lad the Lenovo version of the fist one for £30. Spent another £243 and he's got an i5-4570, 2gig nvme, 16gig of ram, and a gtx1660 super. In a bigger case obviously. Beats his friends systems for less than £300. The old office boards are quite good. You need a few workarounds but that's fun as well.

😂 i bought a 9020 sff a couple years ago refurbed, and i have to say quad core 3.2 ghz running at 3.45 ghz is okay . I didn't intended this to be a gaming pc but more for multi tasking , streaming , video editing type use . Ffwd today and 8g of added ram a 1050 i gpu and this machine plays medium demanding games no problem. I get between 60 to 85 fps on american truck sim at ultra graphics settings ..so for budget minded gamers who want to indulge in gaming with limits of high end graphic pigs these dell refurbs work well, just make sure you want to deal with a sff case as i did make a full size gpu card fit by removing the psu with a open case operation ..it works but looks like shit .

The KingFast 1TB SSD has proven itself to be a horribly unreliable/failure-prone POS. And, all to save a few bucks over many well known but very reliable models/brands. What a shame !

One reason those two USB ports might have been covered: They might have been (mis-)diagnosed as faulty and by opting to not letting the customer know that the ports are even there, there is no chance of overselling the computer's capabilities on that front.

I had one of the small ones, with an i5-2400, I took out the CD drive and put an SSD with an adapter in its place. It was not a very powerful machine, but when I put its GTX1050ti and 16 gb of ram, it became an absolute BEAST. It would have been interesting to try a Noctua heatsink, to see if it would stop sounding like a plane about to take off, and add a mini front fan, but well ....

Oh wow I was eating and the set up looked very similar to Advanced skyline technology or the new name they now go by now Sky Tech Global. I was like no it couldn't be them and when Linus said their name I'm coughed because I used to work for them. Well it's interesting hearing Linus review their products.
