You need an high end GPU, specially if you use fusion, my RX6600 coupled with a Ryzen 9 5900x and 64 GB RAM can t properly handle heavy fusion task. 8GB VRAM and middle end GPU are just not enough.

I wanted to do a full system upgrade but sadly the funding didn't come (was expecting £4k back from energy supplier but they got the math wrong so in reality I have 1k to play with). My plan is to reuse my case and my old 980 gpu but replace everything else. 13700k processor, 32gb RAM, gen4 M.2 and z790. This seems to be best upgrade path for me as I am currently using a 4690k which while still good for 1080p gaming, it simply cannot handle 4k playback/fusion and color correction. I know the gpu will be a significant bottleneck, but that will be replaced once the rest of the 40 series is released and hopefully the 3080 will come down in price. I really don't want to spend over £500 on a graphics card so am hoping that with a little patience I can get more bang for buck in the long term. Either way it seems that spending the money upgrading everything but the card will give more short term performance boost than sticking a 3080 with ddr3 ram and the antique cpu!

Hi I currently have been using resolve free. As far a I understand I may not have any need for a dedicated graphics card with thus configuration. I don't game so what would you suggested as a good option for a an editing system using the free version. Thanks much.

Why is everyone forgeting that within BIOS on AMD Boards you can enable increase to 2GB RAM availible to serve as VRAM?
Why?
Should I roll my eyes or cry?
Or both?

Hi John, thank you for your video!
I also use the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G but no GPU. You say that the performance is not very good but what do you suggest?
Does a GPU solve the Problem because i am thinking about buying one (getting performance problems wenn i make effects and stuff like this in davinci)?
I watched my task manager during i play back a 4k video. the video plays back with about 15 fps but the cpu is on ~40% and the gpu is on ~25%. Do you know how to solve this problem because i am not sure if a GPU is solving the performance problem.

Thanks for your help :)

I recently bought a laptop with 16gb ddr5 ram and nvidia mx550 and 512gb nvme 4.0 ssd.

Is it enough for video editing medium level in 4k?

Is it useful to buy studio version with 16gb ddr5 ram and mx550 gpu?

Question from a NOOB editing using Davinci... is this setup okay to run Davinci 18?
I built this during covid as something to do, I mainly use OSMO action camera(OSMO 3 coming to me in 3 weeks), Insta 360 and my iPhone 13 MAX PRO to video

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 CPU 8 cores/16 threads
MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX MB
XFX Radeon RX570 RS XXX edition GPU
Corsair LP X 32GB DRAM DDR4

Anything i could upgrade there that would help with rendering times?

Hey thanks for reading...

Great channel BTW

hey i have a question, right now im using core i3 12100 32gb ram without dedicated gpu on davinci free version, it works fine on timeline but when i tried to add effects like tracking objects or transition effect, the timeline looks laggy and not smooth, what should i do to fix that, im only editing recorded video from gaming on 1080p 60fps, if i upgrade to 12600k will make my editing looks smooth? or should i stay with 12100 and buy dedicated gpu? is that's what i have to do, is gtx1660ti/super is enough?

I am building a pc for Da vinci resolve using i7 12700k. Is the Igpu on this chip good for a starting point or I MUST buy a gpu? My budget allows me to get a 4 gb card only.

Thanks for the info. I am currently running on a ryzen 5 3400g apu, which I believe runs on a vega 11. I am planning to buy a 4gb nvidia gpu instead of 8gb.

Would this upgrade make any difference or might as well not buy the 4gb because the performance gain is close to none for davici resolve?

So you are saying what's important is the amount and speed of the graphics card RAM?
I currently have a Radeon VII which has 16GB Graphics RAM.
If I was to upgrade this, which other AMD card do you recommend? Is there anything better from AMD to run Resolve?

I’ve got a 5900x amd cpu 32 gigs of memory and a rtx 3070. Will the free version of davinci use the 3070 or just the cpu alone?

I don't understand why Davinci has so many Problems when Premiere Pro and a lot of lowend video Free and cheep programs have no problem running on like machines.
On a lot of the DAVINCI DISCORDS a lot of the problems stems from people not wanting to take the time to properly set up all the nuances required to run Davinci. Likewise a lot of problems stem from they just jump in and expect to be able to EDIT like a pro without reading the book. Ya got to READ the DAMN BOOK.
