This was my favorite, Disney princess movie, and my favorite Disney princess ever since I was little every time I was like feeling sick. I will always turn on this movie and I would always put smile on my face and I just love Tiana so much and I also feel I really relate to her too. I have feeling you would like this movie cause I certainly do. I love it.😊❤

The lesson here. is hard work pays off. You cannot get what you want by wishing for it. You have to put a lot of hard work. I guess Tiana's dad taught her very well. Having a good work ethic. shows that you desire what you want, even if it takes years. It's not going to come overnight. Well, Dr Feciliar, man, I couldn't stand that guy. I just wanted to strangle him. He's one of those villains that you love to hate. But in the end, he got what he deserved. When you do something bad, something bad will happen to you. Did you do stuff that is good? Good rings will come to you. and you were right. Tiana does have a beautiful voice. And Tiana can cook. as well. This is amazing when my sister saw this movie, she got scared. Because of all the voodoo. Overall great reaction.

Also, the Shadow Man's name is Dr. Facilier; "Shadow Man" is more like a nickname, so to speak.

In my opinion, the line "which is why a woman of your background" could be interpreted as both a sexist and racist line, so I don't blame Tiana for her reaction to it. It was bullshit that she lost her restaurant so quickly.

One of the best parts about Ray is that he never judged or called out Tiana after she told him Evangeline wasn't real. Even when that happened, he understood why she was upset and still wanted to help her and never hesitated to help everyone when they needed it and even got his family to help, too. I really love that about Ray since he was non-judgmental, brave, funny, loyal, helpful and, in my opinion, is one of the best Disney side characters and his death is one of the saddest in Disney history. Rest in peace, Ray. You were definitely the MVP to the story. 💚💚💚

The gag with the huge shadow only to revel Mama Odie is a reference to What's Opera, Doc? when a shadow of a huge muscular warrior is shown but it turns out that it was Elmer Fudd casted it.

When I first saw The Princess and The Frog, I though Ray beliving The Evening Star was a firefly was a reference to Timon believing stars are fireflies stuck high up in the sky. I wasn't aware of Evangeline reference until I listened to the director's commentary.

Darnell, the big dim-witted frog hunter is based on Junior Bear from Chuck Jones' series The Three Bears cartoons from Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. Paul Briggs, a Disney animator, who voices him even use a Stan Freberg impression as Junior Bear. The Frog Hunters resembles the comedy trio The Three Stooges who often would hit each other when they argued other something as a comedy routine.

The composer and song writer for the film, Randy Newman (who have done music and songs for Pixar movies such as the Toy Story movies, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc. and University and Cars 1 and 3) cameos as Ray's Cousin Randy. Originally he was going to be cameoing as the turtle in the song When We Are Human, where he would ask Tiana, Naveen and Louis "Are you sure?" to question their goals but it was cut due to spoiling the flow of the song.

Tiana saying "There's no way I'm kissing a frog and eat a bug on the same day." actually refers to the meeting of Ray happened before meeting Louis in an earlier cut in the story but switched places, which makes more sense than the current version as it have gone 24 hours since Tiana were transformed into a frog when this happens.

Originally Louis was going to be a human that went to Facilier to learn how to play the trumpet and he did but the catch was he got turned into an alligator as part of the deal. The idea was cut because the made the film too complex so instead Louis wishes to become a human in order to play in a jazz band (since as you see in the film humans would think an alligator be dangerous and try to kill him).

Shadow Man is the nickname for Dr. Facilier (Facile means easy in french, meaning he's someone who is making it easier for others, or at least suppouse to consindering what conjurer and swindeler he is).

The Princess of the Frog isn't just inspired by The Frog Prince by the Grimm Brothers but also from E.D. Baker's The Frog Princess in which the princess kisses a frog prince and she turned into a frog instead of him being turned back into a human. Baker's book were inspired by The Frog Prince hence the references of The Frog Prince in the movie. Originally, the movie was going to be called The Frog Princess but had to change into The Princess and The Frog because the backlash of "The Frog Princess" were a slur on french people (which I can't understand how that is even if fried frog legs is a delicacy in France).

There are several references to earlier Disney films directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The skull chest that Facilier opens is Pandora's Box that Hades shows Meg in Hercules, at the start of New Orleans a woman can be shaking a carpet that looks like the Flying Carpet in Aladdin, at the Mardi Gras Parade there are floats of King Triton from The Little Mermaid and a ship float referencing Treasure Planet. The woman masquerading as a mermaid at the party is another reference to The Little Mermaid, as well as Daddy La Bouff were dressed as Zeus from Hercules.
There are also two cameos of the directors in the film, the first one when the Fenner Brothers get splattered with cake, and two guys that looks like the directors are standing on a Mardi Gras float tossing out bead necklaces toward the audiences.
The old man dressed as an octopus is a caricature of late Disney Legend Joe Grant (known for designing The Queen in her Witch form in Snow White, designs and story ideas for Dumbo and other films up to Lady and the Tramp and returned to Disney in the 80's where he did work for The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lon King, Mulan etc.).
One of the Shadow Beasts that are sent out to catch frog Naveen, looks like Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas (Ron and John were classmates with Tim Burton at CalArts in the 70's). The tram at the start has number A113 on it, which was a class room at CalArts where several Disney and Pixar directors and animators had Animation Classes at CalArts (including John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Ron Clements, John Musker, Tim Burton, Henry Selick, Joe Ranft, etc.), this reference appears in many Disney movies and nearly all Pixar movies.

Charlotte isn't a princess but a rich Southern Belle, a woman of high social class (compared to the poor working class Tiana comes from and especially being from the African-American culture, they were looked down upon early to almost mid 20:th century, in a lot of movies and cartoons back then often made racist jokes of black people, which are consindered unacceptable today), the daughter of a sugar baron. She would have become a princess if she did marry Prince Naveen as planned but that went to Tiana instead. Still, she might become a princess if she dates his younger brother once he have grown up.

Consindering the photo of Tiana's dad had him in uniform and there was a medal near it, it assumed that he died in World War I.

Dr. Facilier is my all time favorite Disney villain and his song is my favorite Disney villain song and it's because of that song that made me love the broadway genre of music 😁😈💜🎶

The voice of the firefly has to rank as one of the top voices in Disney animation ever. Love it.

I love this movie I seen this when I was a kid

Lottie is probably my favourite female character in any Disney film. Spoiled but not spoiled rotten, incredibly funny, and to top it off a good friend to Tiana who both respects her wishes and takes the first possible excuse to give her the money for her restaurant. Twice!

There's something interesting about this film that took me forever to realize. Granted, this is more of a theory than a confirmed fact, but it makes sense when you think about it. Evangeline is the evening star. The evening star is also the blue fairy from Pinocchio. In other words, Ray is married to the blue fairy.

On a side note, one thing that is a little disappointing about the final number for me is it's just Tiana singing. Imagine how much more adorable that would have been if it was a duet between her and Naveen. (Seriously, the guy has this amazing voice and he only gets to use it once)

Personally, I think that at some point Lottie got into a relationship with Chester and got married to him in the end. No prince, just a good guy.

Fun fact: Anika Noni Rose, the actress playing Tiana, previously played in one of my favorite musical films, which is Dreamgirls.

I like to think that because Tiana is a princess and Naveen was accepted again by his parents that charlotte got the opportunity to meet more princes and ended up engaged to one ! She definitely deserves to have her dream come true, a true ass friend through thick or thin

The young prince being 6 and a half and Charolette being seventeen, the 11-year age gap won't seem that much when the prince comes of age. Charolette will still only be 29, so maybe.

I truly believe that Evangeline was a real firefly, probably a special one, or died a special kind of death. Because Ray's her true love, he got to join her when he died.

I believe no such offer of a full amount payment in cash out of the blue was made. I believe the realters just didn't want to sell to Tiana. I believe them seemly accepting her offer earlier was just a put on. They had no intuition of ever selling the mill to her.

While Charolette was extremely spoiled and over pampered, and self-centered at times, she has a very kind heart and cares about others, especially Tiana. I'm sure she cares a lot for the less-fortunate too. She's what you'd call spoiled-sweet, not a spoiled brat. Her father must have had moral barriers for her. He spoiled her rotten, but he did something right. I do believe that he spoiled her a lot because she didn't have a mother and he was a busy man, although he obviously made time for her as well.

I'm sure that Big Daddy and Charolette have offered to fund Tiana's restaurant, but she wouldn't accept that, I'm sure. She believes she needs to earn all the money herself through back breaking labor and won't accept "charity" or help from anybody.
I also wondered why Tiana never tried to get a loan. My husband said she probably didn't want to be in debt.

I always wonder when Tiana slept. You simple can't get by with no sleep or she'd be dead in a few days. But she obviously doesn't sleep nowhere near enough sleep.
