That was amazing. What a car!! I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope that it was a Brit who bought the car, not an American. We should try to keep these national treasures in Britain where they belong.
I can just imagine seeing and hearing that beast approaching. I would love to know what those other motorists thought when they saw and heard you in that car 🤣🤣🤣 Me? I'd have just thought.... WOW!!! I would love to drive something like that but at 5' nothing I probably wouldn't see over the dashboard, let alone see over the bonnet!!

Hi John . Ian From Australia. the Merlin was in Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancaster , Mustangs ,Mosquitos and a few other planes. The Meteor was in tanks unsupercharged, early Meteors were from unairworthy engines. The beast is magnificent.hopefully it stays in England.all the aircraft had radiators using Glycol as coolant.also some of the Royal Navy used Rolls Royce V12 , these might have been marinised meteors.

Saw the car this weekend at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC. Now painted silver, and now sporting a remodelled front with a Rolls-Royce grille again! Looked good 👍

Rolls Royce may have had their nose put out by John Dodd but he must have given them an idea because they put a Merlin engine into one of their own Rolls and displayed it in Vincents in Reading at some point in the 70's. I know this because my dad worked there as a Jag and Rolls salesman and brought the car home one evening. He got a roasting from Vincents as they were told by RR not to let the car out of the garage! Needless to say it attracted quite a bit of attention!

In the air in the Spitfire, the engine had two! radiators under the wings to keep cool so not so different from the 'car'.
