I like Nextcloud's features, but it's so badly made because it's using PHP and even 16 GB's of RAM, under non-intensive load, make it get a heart attack. I am done with PHP, at this point I'd be coding my own cloud solution which competes with Nextcloud, lmao.
Ответитьnextcloud is impressive
ОтветитьQuestion can we integrate next cloud email services with AD and use thick client like outlook or thunderbird?
ОтветитьHow do you connect/sync your filemanager with nextcloud?
ОтветитьCan you share a public link of a video to a 3rd party who doesn't have Nextcloud and can that person "stream/view" the video (just like the share video in Google photos) or does the person have to download the video first before watching?
ОтветитьRunning this on a small HP server at home. Works great.
ОтветитьI don‘t get, why so many universities/companies/etc use zoom, teams and all the other stuff right now because of the virus situation, if there is some really amazing, free and open source replacement like nextcloud hub out there.
ОтветитьIs it possible to use nextcloud locally??
ОтветитьSyncThing is also a great free tool for sharing files.....
ОтветитьThanks for the tip on lucky backup. I use rsync in a script in my /etc/cron.daily folder to do backups. This might make it more flexible.
Ответитьsignificantly lacking in features
"competes"
you are too long-winded. either get to the point or edit
ОтветитьHow is the privacy and security for this app running on a desktop ? Thanks!
ОтветитьApart from privacy, which of course is critical to some use-cases, it seems to me that self-hosted solutions are actually more expensive than simply using Dropbox or Google Drive, of course depending on how many users are onboarded etc. For example, 3TB of space on AWS S3 will set you back about $70/month for starters, not counting bandwidth, transactions etc. That's the equivalent of 4 users on a Dropbox business plan out the gate but with a far less sophisticated product and all the overhead of managing your own server. Still, as a personal thing to play with for people who already have their own servers etc. this could be fun to get up and running.
ОтветитьNextcloud has always had optional apps you can install. I was using OnlyOffice long before I actually deployed a NextCloud server. Only office desktop is much better. Only Office may not be as robust as Libre Office but it's installable desktop clients are much more lightweight and the files it saves are 100% MS Office compatible. It can also properly open MS Office files with no formatting issues, at least none I ever ran into. I'm actually trying to learn how to deploy encrypted user storage so each member of my family can have an encrypted private folder they can sync with. I know it can do it, I just have to learn how.
ОтветитьUnpopular opinion. Still praying that Nextcloud server would someday be able to run on Windows without having to setup Docker or Linux VMs.
ОтветитьYour Contacts and Calendar can also be synced with anything that can take CalDAV/CardDAV. I use this to sync my contacts between my android device and thunderbird, and to sync a Calendar with my family.
Ответитьwow thats awesome, gonna have to give this a try.
Ответить"nextcloud hub" is actually exactly the same as the previous versions, it already had all the tabs, it already had onlyoffice, those are all optional installable apps
literally the only change is that it installs a few of those apps by default.
