Two car guys give a barbershop review of three purpose built cars. I have a 718CS and Audi RS5 V8. Getting out of the RS5 and jumping in the Cayman makes you feel like you just jumped on a chainsaw running at full throttle but, you are out to chop some trees no spread butter on your morning crumpet, I don't see any problem. Please learn how to use tolls, don't spread butter with a chainsaw. Still, I do question where your bread is getting buttered. You are both much better than all that.

I know this video is old, but I've always thought these Fifth Gear format car tests are the most ridiculous ever. So eliminate the car that fails each challenge so it doesn't have a chance to potentially win other challenges to get an overall full comparison for the final result? What numbskull came up with that? Did they not consider (for example) that potentially the slowest car in a staight line could have by far the best handling and road manners etc and so go on to win all the other tests?

The 718 is the most anemic with it's 4-banger. It doesn't have the Porsche flat-6 soul. The TT is a boring Audi with no driver feel. The BMW is an ugly looking sedan. The Jag is beautiful and offers the best interior and sound.

Normally I wouldn't agree with this test, but because I just bought the z4 M40i..I will.. Awesome car.

Comparing four cars with completely different engines, some with 4 cylinders and some with 6, power range from 300 PH to 400 PH is useless. Compare apples to apples, oranges to oranges, not apples to kiwi.

what's the point in using the slower Jag?

If they tested the BMW M40i American version 382 HP it probably would have won the track test as well. Amazing car.

Which is why you didn't win anything in F1 as the point of going around the track is what the stop watch says. Take the BMW to a drift completion in the local tesco carpark which where it is at its best.

this test is rather unfair. you compare apple with oranges and then when you have the chance to compare sports cars to what they are built for you choose to loose the only one who is really built for a sporty drive on the track. the indian dude is actually more knowledgable and the white guy has no ideea how to change gears 😂😂😂

Ngl, I'd take the TT RS solely for the engine. That 2.5L inline-5 engine is a glorious masterpiece.

A bad joke , eliminating the Porsche before allowing it to show what's it's good at is like giving Messi a spelling test before he's allowed to kick a ball. Was it too much effort to test all four? Couldn't even be bothered to allow the two drivers to swap on the second runs to avoid driver skills being a deciding factor, rubbish review.

Starts with testing straight line speed to already eliminate one.
These are sports cars, not muscle cars.
You buy these for driving dynamics, not drag racing....

Think you got the wrong Cayman for this comparison... Cayman GTS 4.0 would have been a much better choice.. Cayman T is meant for the track and got eliminated before that test

Highly competitive sector? It’s probably the least competitive of any sector. 4 options, when other sectors often have a dozen. And then eliminating the Porsche before the track test makes no sense at all. Also you’re comparing the m40i which is the highest trim version against the F Type and Boxster base options which isn’t really fair. The Z4 is also a convertible which makes it not really a part of this sector, the Supra would have been a better choice. I know it’s loosely based on price and the fact that the cars are German, but those really aren’t the best factors to use.

Remember, for just over 7 grand more than the Audi. You could have a 4 litre, manual, naturally aspirated Porsche.

Regardless of your dubious testing protocols and conclusions, I prefer the Jag experience over all the others, so I bought one

I had the original TT 225 HP. I was driving during the winter with 4 winter tires on the car. I pulled up beside a police car. The light turned green I took off quite quickly and was pulled over by the cop. He wanted to know why I was driving so fast. I told him I wasn't speeding. He gave me my licence back then followed me 5 or 6 km to the highway and let me go. That was a great car with an incredible interior. I miss that car.

BMW for me! 2nd. is the Audi 🙂✌ Love it!

Using the 4 cylinder Jaguar in this test is not only unfair, but stupid.

No offense to the ex formula onr racer but he doesn't come close to Tiff with regards to content delivery as a car journalist... Just kept thinking this would be so much better with Tiff!!
