this is the best live looping midi controller setup

This is a hectic setup, just got this same layout up and running with the new focusrite scarlett gen 4 and am totally blown away by the flexibility of the at fingertip options for control

Over the last few years in music i've learned Piano, Beatmaking, DJing(Toneplay, Scratching & Regular Mixing), Production, Sound Design, Mixing/Mastering, Song Composition, Music Theory, Music Promotion, Event Coordination & Promotion, Graphic Art, Business/Operations Management, Video Production / Editing, Networking, Organization, Money Management, Communication/Ethics & continue to plan to expand my knowledge as much as possible!
Specifically Skillshare & Mentors have been where i've gotten all my structured knowledge and it HAS been worth the money cause it's cut out sooo much time. Wish everyone luck on their journey!

what road case are you using to hold all your midi gear?

nice my setup is pretty similar! the Chain Selector dilemma!!! wth so right! its so Clunky, such a pain. i use one older mpk to trigger the Flourishes. beautiful paintings

Arming multiple tracks is useless. Just put your midi controller as the input and choose ''in'' instead of ''auto''.
And btw, you are uninformed regarding the rack and the chain selector thing.
You can create varation and map alot of variation control to your midi controller. Just click the midi map button on the top right and you'll have a bunch of controls.

Your workflow is peculiar and require you to dive deep into specific Live parameter, but it's all there. Live is not the problem because your prefered controls for what you would like to do are not in your face. Read the manual before making videos where you say missinformed statement as facts.

Its been a while since i’ve found a vid with new features & tricks i’ve never considered (defining a drum rack for just passing EDM style sounds, I thought I needed a Launchpad trigger for that)

I have a much better idea of which controller set ups i can summon!

If you don't record on you fx track, you could set the monitor to In instead of Auto, and you won't need to arm the track

This was awesome to see how the setup works. That one section with using the knobs to switch the piano into a kalimba, you could also make dummy clips to switch between them that way as well. Will definitely be rewatching this over my summer break.

Regarding what you mentioned about the chain selector and not using more than 2 sounds... I think you could actually use up to 3. This way, when you have the knob all the way to the left, it would be "sound 1," in the middle "sound 2," and to the right "sound 3." Well, this is assuming your knobs aren't infinite :P

Regarding path changes on the fly, I've created an instrument rack with a bunch os different instruments, just as you did. But for each instrument layer I use not a range but a single number in the chain lane. It would be impossible to pick instruments on the fly with a knob, so I have assigned midi cc in Launchpad Mini with specific single values, instead of the tradicional 0 - 127. There's a pad that sends just value 0, other sends value 1 and so on. Finally, the cursor in the chain lane is mapped to macro knob. Then, when I hit a pad on the Launchpad Mini, the macro knob moves in one by one increments, moving the lane's cursor and changing instruments. It is a good idea to map the on/off button of each instrument to the same macro knob, so they won't keep on when not selected, saving a lot of cpu power.

Hi Taetro. Can't the track that is always on be set to IN instead of AUTO and then you can leave rec arm in exclusive mode? It works better for me this way. Cheers.
