Thanks for the tutorial. I am new to both revolvers and moonclips. Tkcustom is doing a conversion for me and right now I am researching all the details in using such a rig and all the custom gear I will need. You nicely demoed answers to most of my questions! Can schofields tht shoot 45 colt shoot 45 acp or is tht a conversion or is it just clambered in 45 schofield

The TK conversion allows the use of 45 ACP in moon clips. Unmodified Schofields will not do this.

I often do.

It will do no harm. Standard pressure is best, and i like a 200 grain SWC lead bullet. Jeff

Hi, I just bought a Navy Arms Schofield 1875 revolver in 45LC can you tell me if I can use any 45LC ammo or do I need to shoot cowboy loads? Thanks

Any standard pressure 45 Colt ammo is fine in that gun. You are not limited to the sissy "Cowboy" type loads, but you cannot use 45 Colt Magnum or 45 Colt Plus P. jeff

Won't there be a small travel space due to the length of the 45 ACP compared to the original cartridge.

I am very interested in this idea: how does the S&W schofeild chambered in 45 colt hold up to 45 acp pressures? Also, does the hammer block allow for loading six ? If the revolver can live on 45 acp and load six, this is a project I would undertake myself! very cool!

also, does a standard blue clip that I use in my 625 jm work, or would this require specialty moonies?

Will the higher pressures of the .45 ACP  loosen up the gun over time?  Can you shoot .45 Auto-Rim out of it when it is modified?

Very cool way to load up a revolver, always liked the moon clips and that loader/unloader is really slick. Good review thanks.

This is a beautiful weapon with a modern addition that keeps the honor of the Old West while making it a very practical carry gun that should have more velocity than a 1911. A very clever idea and keeps with the ridges the original cartridge. I wish I knew how to wear a modern electronic ear protection like I use at the range and still ear my cowboy hat comfortably. Like the vest too.

I've been wanting this conversion for my smith and wesson lightweight model how quickly do they do their work and ship your cylinder back to you.

Why are they called moon clips?

A friend has one of those Mooner tools, like Jeff has, and it works amazingly.

I always thought shtf  happened I love pistol or revolver 2 able to shoot 357 38 9mm 38acp then 45acp 45 long colt judge type rounds cylinder or barrel for 22lr 22mag and 22 hornet as hand guns with a rifle would be okay

I like the idea of holding the moon Clips on your belt but have you ever accidentally bent one when pulling it out so it did not function correctly in the weapon?

Do they have moonclips for the taurus/rossi circuit judge? It'd be cool to see moonclips for revolver rifles.

Brand new to all this. Love the option of speed loading a western firearm. Didn't even know about the Schofield till a couple days ago. Was looking for a EDC gun. Would you recommend this option?
