you say there is no difference in gaming performance yet your comparison images show insane difference in gaming performance. I have tested both cpus and it is true, in gaming there barely any difference. Something seriously wrong in your testing method if in Dirt 5 at 4k you get a 40% higher fps with 12900k.
ОтветитьDefinite differences at 4K...
ОтветитьWhat is the difference between the two in a workstation perspective. Planning on using blender and Unreal Engine 5 at the same time with maybe some background tasks like rendering videos in premiere/ae.
ОтветитьQuestion for the 12900k:
1) Would you need a 1200 watt PSU for it?
&
2) Can a Noctua Chromax unit be sufficient for air cooling?
Congrats for the video. Got asus z690-m plus d4 189 dollars, is that bad? you told the best was get a 250 dollars motherboard, which one is that and what makes it better than mine?
ОтветитьI don’t understand your explanation of your own results. You say there’s barely any difference and there is a very noticeable difference in performance.
ОтветитьTest beds used for this stuff tends to be built around the idea of removing as many background tasks as possible to not color the results. I think you may need some new testing scheme with eff. cores. Some real world background tasks that you can simulate that show the headroom available for background tasks. For instance some browsers reloading pages, Discord running, or outlook syncing e-mail. Maybe some video capture and streaming?
ОтветитьI would love to see AlderLake and the p5800x. Feels like a match made in heaven.
Ответитьwhat about overclocking to the max? in theory the i9 should go higher, can you confirm?
ОтветитьAMD FTW !!!
ОтветитьI got Best buy to price match micro center at 329.99. Kinda want to use the MSI Unify X (2 dimm) with it
ОтветитьVR lots of background tasks being run I9 all the way.
ОтветитьDoes the DDR4 ram work in the Z690 motherboard? I really sick of my 9900k and want to upgrade to the 12700k or the 12900k but I'm not gonna pay 1000$ for 4 new ram sticks.
ОтветитьPicked up an i7 from Micro Center for $377 after California taxes. No regrets 🤙🏾
Ответить12900k is $499 at microcenter near me.
ОтветитьSo is the Noctua D15 big enough to handle the new I7K at full load for an hour?
ОтветитьUm, why is the 12700k getting more fps lol gamer nexus shows it destroying the 12700k in many titles. Lol what’s the deal buddy.
ОтветитьWhy does the performance scale so much higher on the 6900XT in Horizon and Dirt 5? Anybody got an explanation for that?
ОтветитьThe difference from i7 to i9 isn't as much now at about $150.
ОтветитьI just overclocked the i7, and it's much closer now to the i9 :) much cheaper too!
ОтветитьI’m stuck on buying 12600k or 12700k for gaming and streaming
Ответить12700k is the go to for any real gamer. i9 is overkill and for editors
ОтветитьThere are games that can fit in that L3 cache and highly benefit from it, it also contributes to smoother frame-times. Its not only additional 4e cores, its also 5mb more cache which can be important for some people in certain e-sport games like pubg where difference is insanely big between i7 and i9, but its for minority, most don't need it, 20-25mb of cache is perfect right now to have very smooth frame time line graph.
ОтветитьCan you do the same with the 12600k vs 12700k
ОтветитьI did exactly your recommendation. I7-12700k, 64gb ddr4-3600 cas 18, and the z690 prime micro ATX. The CPU has a Corsair h100i capellix.
It peaks in the low 60s C, has a 4.7 all core sustained with no work on my part other than setting xmp, and can game for hours with an rtx 3070.
I just wish there was a better micro ATX case than the obsidian 350D. Other than that, it's an absolute monster of a chipset and CPU.
lol brooo!!! weed!
Ответитьjust sitting over here in 12600k land
ОтветитьI am very confused on FPS rates. Since humans have 60 FPS maximum vision, why care about those three digit frame rates for those CPUs and GPUs?
ОтветитьIf you don't particularly require 12c/20t, you can disable the E-cores and run the 12700 @ 8c/16t. With only the P-cores, I can run lower voltage, lower LLC, the chip runs cooler and the cores have more cache available. It also eliminates the need to do any 'lassoing' (forcing to use P-cores instead of E-Cores) and avoids compatibility problems.
If you don't want to completely disable the E-cores, there's also a neat trick in the BIOS of ASUS motherboards (perhaps others have it too): you can enable a function to park the E-cores when pressing Scroll-Lock on the keyboard.
I went i7 and I'm super happy I did I mean it beats out there flagship chip from last gen so why tf not? It also has better Temps then the i9 12900k so that's huge imo lol. Also it still does ddr5 if you want and everything else lol. Also there is no way these numbers in gaming is correct lol. They are much much closer then this. What I don't get is how yoy forget to cover Temps?
ОтветитьI am planning to buy i7 12700k for Music production. Is it worth it to use for next 5 years? Or for futuristic standpoint should I prefer i9 12900k? I'm on a strict budget. So I'm confused whether i should spend more money on i9 or can I trust i7?
ОтветитьThis is such a good review. I think this is why I like this dude. He knows what he's talking about & doesn't put up random graphs. Just plain and simple.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьMans doing Gods work over here!
ОтветитьThat nostalgic meme, thank you for that :')
ОтветитьIdk man that i9 had some massive gains in 4k somehow? Like how is there a 40fps difference in dirt5?
ОтветитьI just redo my order from Amazon today. I got the i7 12700k instead of i9 12900k and with the RAM thanks for mentioning about future proof of DDR5. I enjoy your video.. thanks and more power.
ОтветитьI didn’t know Jack Black did tech vids
ОтветитьI want to buy i9 12900k but im scared cuz everyone says its hot and it runs hot do u advice me to buy it ? Or i got for 12700 k , i have money but i dont know what to choose i want i9 but they say its hot 12900 k
Ответитьi7 vs i9 for Davinci REsolve and Adobe Premiere cutting 4K60 video? I game as well, but more interested in playback and processing performance for video editing projects
ОтветитьGot just a 12700k too.. too late? Maybe. But... Wow! A beast
ОтветитьThanks for the simple and direct result right off the bat! Love it and subscribed because of it
Ответитьthanks man im going for the 1-7 im sure itll do enough for streaming
ОтветитьI believe the i9 also supports ECC memory.. just saying
Ответитьi got the i7 12700k and a z690 pus wifi board at microcenter and the board was completey free best deal of the year spent should have been 700 for just the 2 got a whole new rig 900 bucks new case ram psu and all
ОтветитьYou didn't mention the increased L3/L2 cache for i9. Were you not aware of that or do you not think it is important? Honest noob question from me.
ОтветитьThese benchmarks are utter bs. How the fuck did that FPS difference go that high at 4k?
Ответитьthe 12900k is still about $300 on ebay, I bought one that blue screened like crazy duye to being over-overclocked. I sent it back and made an offer of $200 on a 12700k and they accepted it. The price per core between the 12900 and 12700 is huge and not really worth it....yet. The 10100, 11100, and 12100 are still an INSANE value!
ОтветитьThis is great 12th gen info. Thanks oh wise Janitor.
