I grew up in a log shack. The wind whistling through the cracks in the windows was nature's lullaby! Takes me back to long ago when life was simple and sweet.

It is August, 2013 in Medellin, Colombia. I am seated in a sofa in my small apartment, I have a joint in my hand, and I am playing Final Fantasy XIV while talking to a friend about the night plans. I hang up, take in some of the smoke, and realize, as I look through my window and hear the sound the wind makes, that THAT is the most calming, relaxed moment that I will ever have in my life.

I pray that I am wrong.

I hate that I wasn’t.

This sound brings up memories of the weekends in the winter living in South Texas, cloudy day, window open, the warmth of the house mixing with the cold breeze coming in. I could play games, sleep, or relax for hours at a time. Nothing is more relaxing other than howling wind, the rain.

My neighbor's huge pine tree does the whistling of the wind automatically and i can hear from my interior of my house when its windy!

My grandparents house was built in the late 50’s the fireplace would make this noise with the air blowing through the chimney like a giant whistle

this reminds me a lot in my childhood times when I used to play Facebook games in summer and then I hear this a lot in my window.

I would love this exact wind profile with rain that starts with far off thunder that grows a little louder as the storm nears then intensifies then quiets again as it moves off finally stopping to leave only the wind again and repeat ❄️💙🙏🏻my thanks for the sounds 👍🏼

I used to hear this sound from the windows most days after school work at noon with calm in our house northwest of the Kingdom, when I was a child it was a disturbing sound but now it is the sound of sad memories

Fantastic cure for restlessness

This brings to mind my 350 year old cottage in Scotland at the top of the Wynd just up from the sea. The wind would hit the side of the cottage full force, making the old windows rattle and whistle. I’d have to shut the door, but still it would blow under the door down the landing and make my bedroom door rattle. I’d be curled up in bed with layers of clothes on, a scarf around my neck, socks, duvets and blankets and I loved it. One night it was blowing a wee hoolie and I heard my bins blowing around and saw they were about to fly down the Wynd so I rushed out in my nightie and a cardigan before they did. What a sight I must have been wrestling the bins, trying to close the lid with my nightie caught by the wind and over my head. 😝

If i hear this i know a door is gonna slam because of the wind.

This reminds me of the sounds of Hurricane Ivan and it blew the window seals of every window in the house and this is sound of the wind blowing thru the window seals, only it was more intense at times and in the corner room of the house that was catching the wind at its worst , it actually sounded like a someone screaming 😱 so I kept that door closed and locked and stayed crouched in the bathroom floor the entire night. This sounds exactly like that night accept there’s not enough sounds of a creaking roof. Was expecting the roof to fly off but fortunately it didn’t. Only lost the shingles. I never slept not even for a minute for the entire night until it became suddenly quiet right at the crack of Dawn. What a night that was! They claimed it was a Cat 3 but everyone in Pensacola said it had to be at least a Cat 4. Almost the entire Pensacola area had their roofs destroyed and all homes were covered In blue tarps for months on end waiting to get new roofs and without power for weeks and trees covering the roads. With no stores we survived on MRE’s brought in by the National Guards. But for some odd reason the sounds of the winds are calming.

This reminds me of my childhood. I lived in an old house with a wood stove. The wind would whistle like this during the winter. I can remember how safe and warm I felt. Thank you

I moved houses and have been wondering why there is much noise like this. I recently found out it was wind and had to search how it sounds as I never had such experience before. Now I am at peace😀

I remember when i was super little i would hear this sitting in my room in the 2000s in the midwest

The wind is howling. It's freezing 🥶 outside. The cottage is warm. You just finished the last of the coffee ☕- Only got halfway through a great chapter. Probverbs 20 I think. Eyes too heavy. Cats are snuggled on the bed. Dog is on the sofa near the fire. The howling wind lulls you into bed. Tomorrow is another day. Lord Willing you'll see it. Counting your blessings so you can bless others. Goodnight...

I grew up in Baltimore Maryland and the only thing that was not city was the weather. I my used to lay across my bed and chill. My mind would be at such peace.
