Maybe it's me but I always like to come back and review these basics videos just a refresher. As a Star Trek fan, have you been watching Strange New Worlds? Take care... 🙂

You forgot to mention MDF for speaker cabinets! 😁 That's essentially my personal woodworking origin story.

MDP (Medium Density Particleboard)
Chipboard is created by pressing wood debris, such as sawdust and dust, with resin and glue.

Why is a softwood i.e pine, being used in home construction rather than hardwood? Isn't soft wood NOT supposed to be used in load bearing structures?

Gee, I was with you until you said "hardwoods are rarely stained" I don't think anyone has ever ordered a an oak desk from us that wasn't stained and we have sold hundreds of them. Natural oak or cherry is not very attractive almost everyone orders cherry with a darker stain.

God I remember watching this in my high school woodshop and when I heard the term hard wood I made tons of immature sexual jokes lol. Especially when the hard wood happened to also be dark too like walnut lol.

My wood is hard 😭😭
Big thick hard wood 😭😭
Big dark hard wood

I’m very late to the party but holy mackerel-your videos are insanely thorough, easy to understand, and soooooo helpful! Thank you!!!

I’m finally learning how to use my power tools & I’m starting to build things…mainly bc I now have chickens & I want to build an agility course for them in my garden 😂🏆🐓

Anywhoooo…oh yeah! My question! 😆: What type of wood should I use for the chicken ladders & balance beams & bridges & trapeze & everything? And what type of treatment will offer the best protection from New England “weath-ah” & will also be safe for my eight crazy little hens?

Thanks!! 👷🏻‍♀️🛝🐓🎢🏆

Just want to say that I miss your Microjig intros. I bought a Microjig based solely off (a) your coverage of how good they were, and (b) how amusing your intros were for them. The latter put the name into memory and the former was convincing enough that I bought one.

Want to make use of a solid wood tabletop, 1 inch thick, which I purchased on the marketplace. My plan was to refinish this 3ft x 5 ft tabletop and put it top of 2 ikea shelving units which are 57 x 30 x 15 or so. Knowing that these shelving units are made of MDF I wonder if they can support this tabletop adequately or if they will eventually sag? If not, any ideas as to how I can support this tabletop and still used the MDF shelving units? I appreciate any advice you can give me. I have learned so much from watching your videos. Thanks
