I only have the base game, so it makes me a bit sad. I also play on PS4, so I can't have mods or custom content either. I have no packs, so I have to cope with that too.

I cannot rush the gameplay, really I always play on long lifespan and with seasons on 28 days with LOTS of celebrations and even summer holiday ☺️

I also like to give them food likes and dislikes - maybe they like microwaved or fancy food, maybe they just eat pizza or Zoomers? I also give kids/teens a little budget where I tally up the amount they spend on room decor or (Highschool years) school lunches etc - even though they don’t have an actual bank account I just give them like 500 simoleons for a week to two (currently my sim buys room decor or Simmis/the Voidcfitter cards)

I am a family simmer so this may not be fun to you but this is So fun for me right now! So basically I make a family and then basically try to do as many gens as possible BUT each gen has a different challenge, for example 1st gen it was a super unfunctional family so basically the mom was materialistic a snob And was famous, the dad was more chill outdoorsy loved rustic style and was basically the opposite of the mom, the oldest daughter was Super self absorbed an over achiever but liked Retro and mid-centry vibes and hated the thought of big fancy minimalist mansions, sure she wanted to be famous but she wanted to be famous to share her life and what she likes not like for money, the oldest son was very geeky loved videogames hated the outdoors very messy blah blah, The youngest daughter was very Introverted didn't like following instructions or school at all she wanted to learn stuff on her own time liked outdoors and indoors equally but disliked her family blah blah, the youngest son was just very calm didn't particularly have preferences and disliked everyone except the youngest daughter, Then the 2nd gen (oldest daughter) married a high-school crush, BUT they lived in a tiny home she fought with her wife a ton because of grudges and stuff they got along but had fights often, And she was living in a super small home with her 3 siblings her wife and her child, and I basically built up the house no money cheats and turned it into her dream home, her daughter is currently the one I'm on but she is doing the 100 baby challenge (I'm at 53/100😭) and I haven't gotten bored at all! She had a highschool gf that she broke up with but is still in touch with So it'll be interesting seeing what happens between them later on!

When I give my sims makeovers I have a app that I write things and it randomly picks it

Loved this video! So many things in here really add to the game! I love rotational gameplay with different people a family tree and celebrating holidays and having them go to new lots! I do use mods and CC a lot but also am kind of bad at updating them and don’t want to rely on them for everything. Thanks for the short and sweet video!

I built my first shop and was really impressed! I was definitely enjoying the process, I may not have all the packs but I have myself a little LP, it’s fun! Learned a lot of cheats and I’m learning a lot! I still wish I had CC though

One time I adopted a toddler and I got so pissed bc it wouldn't take a bath so I quit the game without saving

One thing I’ve found as I make a challenge revolving around the worlds, is that replacing usually expensive lots (like the mansions in Willow creek) with cheaper houses or parks can spice up the game quite a bit! There are parts of Willow creek that I’ve never seen because it’s just too expensive to move in, but when you add a park into the neighborhood? You can head there weekly!

I didn’t know you could hire a caretaker, let’s just say I made babysitters that were very useless.

Me and my partner sim we were having a dinner date at my small restaurant and a grumpy old lady hit us with her purse 🤣 It was funny we pranked her and she scolded us lol 😆 thats on my behalf

Often do makeovers but there are not a lot of good clothes in the game, so you have to use cc
If you want a legacy you have to play for a long time and the game itself is so boring i end up with one toddler and get bored cus there's nothing to do

I play with a a family, the children grow up and I make their family so I end up with all these branches (Also lots of drama cause one if them was abused) but the family arent all happy

I agree with taking the game slower. It tends to be more interesting and realistic!

Best tips i have for making this game more interesting is;
1. creating an elaborate story for a sim you're creating. Why just start on a empty lot without purpose. Maybe your sims house burned down or they run away from home?
2. Making every save unique. If you play in one world i recommend deleting all of the other sims that creators made in other worlds. I hate seeing bella goth and Nancy Landgrab all the time for example especially in my cottage living or sulani gameplay. I just delete them all or give them makeovers to fit my gameplay.

Another idea: find a movie or book trope you like an reenact it with yous Sim. but dont stick to hard to the story, your sim might want to go a different way.

I try to have them date at least two people without taking the "logical" next steps (marriage, kids). It feels more realistic to be with a few people before settling down.

Rushing my gameplay was the worst mistake i could ever make

I just started a legacy, and yes it is fun! My sim married Johnny Zest. They have a daughter, and they moved to Del Sol Valley where Johnny is still pursuing his dream. He's doing great! My sim is a teacher. Their story is unfolding so beautifully! 💚

I really regret that I didn't get into Sims sooner... this is probably the most fun I've had in a game in a while. I really love how much variety you can do with your gameplay. Like you literally do not have to stick with any rules at all. And your "take it slow" approach is a great idea. The first sim I got married had a severely rushed relationship: they became boyfriends and engaged in the same night and got married two days later, so I barely felt chemistry between them.

I literally adooore your tips. one other I saw is to create in a new save the family and the others on the same world for rotational, like you did, or use the new gameplay of IA choices (vies de quartier in French, I don't know the name in English). Thank you very much !!

I actually did this the other day with my sim! She's a Gardener and has Triplet girls so I named them each after a different flower

If im bored i like to do challenges, like a rainbow family

i try to do a routine but nearly every time i try to make them do the things i want them to do they decline to do it and like what i find so annoying is when the sim wants to go to the bathroom and you try to send them there they decline and im like GOSH im trying to help

The sad fact is that we get bored in sims4. It never happened with sims2 nor 3.

I like the idea of adding in families and houses from the gallery. However, I sometimes find them incredibly boring. They are often very 'perfect' houses and sims. So I do my own version now - my own npc's, if you will. 

When I create my own sims, I like to give them at least one physical 'flaw', and one negative character trait. And I try to play their lives true to their traits. I give them multiple outfits as well. This makes it sooo much more interesting. Other times, I just randomise the traits/gender/other thing, and create the sim based on that - you get some pretty fun combinations. I write a little back story for every household.

I also build them a house, based on their personality. For example, I am very fond of Monroe, the crazy clockmaker, and his house that is filled with clocks. Or lady green, who is obsessed with collecting frogs, who live in a house that sort of resembles a frog. And who can be without Donny Zest, Johnny's much more rich, successful and handsome rockstar twin brother? (who hates him)

What a lot of people liked about the previous games was the craziness and chaos. And yet, many of us fall into the trap of trying to make things perfect, myself included. Why is that?
