Really good video definitely some things I didn’t think of
Ответитьwould this work with an integrated filter system?
ОтветитьAnother hack I learnt from someone is too take the plastic fruit netting that lemons and oranges come in and put it into a ball real small with rubber band and throw it in your filter and boom you just provided bacteria with 1000s of extra square feet to colonize
ОтветитьWow❤❤
Ответитьcan i use this filter with an axolotle
ОтветитьHave you ever had issues with the poly pad leaking into the tank when you used the stuffing rather than pad ?
ОтветитьGreat video! But Pothos leaves won't produce roots you need some stem. That was a bit misleading or unprecise
ОтветитьMy fish thank you Fish Queen 🥰
ОтветитьThe soap dish idea is absolutely amazing. I've looked for baffle options and none looked decent and a lot of them wouldn't fit my tank. That would totally work for me.
ОтветитьThats alot😂
Ответитьi love the hang on back filters. always used the carbon cartridge so maybe i will try to swap it out with media and a sponge. i already is a sponge on the instake so not having carbon may help as i didnt realize it also removes tannins.
ОтветитьThanks for teaching me about the pre-filter. Great idea, I'm surprised the pet stores don't push them more for fish and turtle tanks.
ОтветитьIs bill smith related to will?
ОтветитьPlug it in .... hang it in aquarium.... your done
ОтветитьWhat substrate do you have in the first tank with the corys
ОтветитьHi ! I've been watching your videos for a bit (ok binge watched over the past weeks, lol) and I love that you also share the tips from the community ! The aquaclear has always been my favorite hob filter but the sounds it made were too much.... The rubber band for the cover, i'm definitely adopting the idea !!
ОтветитьQuestion for all hobbyists:
HOB filters are design to filter water from the back of filter to the front, where the water goes into the tank.
By removing the default cartridges and doing as shown in the video, we create a filtration system from bottom to top, with all filtration layers on top of each other. But the water still goes from back to front so I was wondering what's the efficiency of that method? Is it still as interesting as vertical layers, back to front? I feel most of the water just flows on top of the sponge here and then straight into the tank...
Thoughts?
Excellent info... and yeah, she's Hot.
ОтветитьI have the opposite problem. The little slits in the intake get clogged and my flow gets reduced to almost nothing. Almost lost fish from lack of oxygen. Use a sponge pre filter but still happens. Tetra whisper. I hate it lol
Ответитьwhy on earth would anyone put the fine polishing sponge on top pf the bio media......mind boggling. It should be right on top of the course sponge.
ОтветитьSUPER helpful hacks!
ОтветитьGreat advice! Thanks
ОтветитьI know this is an older video, but I need help! How do you keep the sponge from floating up in the filter? Mine keeps raising the filter media to the point it’s not even in the water any more. I have to constantly push everything down causing grime to flood the tank. Any pointers?
ОтветитьMy biggest issue with the AquaClear HOB is that when I plug it back in, it won't run.
Looked on a few forums and apparently it's a common issue, and ppl are solving this by flicking the impeller with something like a chopstick while it's plugged in. It works like a charm.
Hi GTF! I have an aqua clear 50 and a 20 that I run 2 sponges in each including bio rocks in. Plus the intake sponges. I was told never to clean my bio rocks that it will cause me to lose my beneficial bacteria. How true is this?
ОтветитьI still don't have my tank set up, but the tank stand plan has evolved to include an indoor garden around the aquarium and a lighted grow box underneath.
I gotta talk to this Rat Dragon!
awesome <3 following your tips now, (with whatever i have at disposal :-) )
ОтветитьAWESOME VIDEO!!! TONS of really good information! Thank you!!! 😁
ОтветитьIs this "girl" a real woman?
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video. I’ve watched it 100 times I bought and ordered all of the items. My question is when I get everything in and I take out the old cartridge filter. My concern is I won’t have any of the good bacteria on any of this because it would be all new.
ОтветитьHi i am using hang on back filter cn i also add charcoal in it
ОтветитьYou've liked, you've commented (or at least you are taking time to read one)....if you haven't created an Aquarium Reference/Tips folder for yourself yet, now is the time and this video should definitely make the cut! It's so helpful to create your own reference library. THIS VIDEO IS ONE TO SAVE for sure. Totally accurate info, easy to understand, and has creative ways to change things up- loved the airline tube floating plant DIY idea- I can't believe I ever spent $$ on this floating rings that look and work just as well. Thank you Girl Talks Fish!:)
ОтветитьMake sure you root it first (put pothos in a separate bowl of water). Then put the pothos in the fish tank. If you use a fresh-cut one, they have toxins that can be harmful to the fish in the water. Soap dishes for baffling the water flow are the better option, as plastic bottles will eventually leach toxins and microplastics into your tank.
ОтветитьFunny, they haven't change the design since nineties.
ОтветитьYou’ve got fish eyes
ОтветитьThank you , nice a simple
ОтветитьI have 2 internal filters. Where can I get a prefilter sponge that goes over the internal filter holes?
ОтветитьGod bless you for saving fish and taking care of them. I hope the message of our Lord Jesus Christ has been reached to you 😊
ОтветитьAMAZING TIPS! Thank you so much 🙂
Ответитьis there a reason to take the carbon out? Someone at a fish shop just told me that as well. I've always had it in my HOB filter/will it impact my planted 20 gal CO2 tank?
ОтветитьThanks for showing this easy method
ОтветитьI have pro50power filter in 37 gal tank high
ОтветитьI hope u can answer my guestion... I have over back filter and the tube isnt very long which the fill line is close to water surface and I have to keep adding water? Do they have something to make the line fill not so close like down more. Hope I didn't confuse uLol
ОтветитьAnother way to slow the flow is to trim back the fins on the impeller. A less permanent option on Aquaclear filter is to swap in replacement impeller for a lower GPG model. This is an old hack for DIY refugiums on the saltwater side of the hobby. 🙂
ОтветитьAqua Clear filters are the best HOB's. I buy pillows and use the inside material for my HOB's and my water is always crystal clear. 1 pillow 3.50 Canadian and lasts a long time.
ОтветитьAwesome ideas !!
