ОтветитьYou've just inspired me to build a rat pedal for bass. What diodes, transistors and pots do I need for bass guitar?
ОтветитьHey where can i find those style of knobs?
ОтветитьOr get a Rat for $80
ОтветитьDo you know where you found that “capacitor cheat sheet”? I’ve tried Google and can’t find anything like it.
ОтветитьI know this is ancient history in computing terms, but I looked at the schematic shown on the linked website for the kit. It shows pin 1 and pin 8 being connected on the opamp. The opamp is a TL071CP, and on that opamp, pin 8 is not used. However, on the original RAT schematic (using the LM308) pin 1 and 8 ARE connected. On the LM308 pin 8 is the "COMP2" connection and pin5 is not connected. On the TL071CP pin 5 is the "offset null 2" and pin 8 is the n/c. So I think the schematic is using the wrong pin number, but hopefully the PCB is actually connecting pins 1 and 5 via C3 because I can't see the PCB that well. (I only worked this out so I could breadboard the circuit and it was bugging me that an unused pin was being used)
ОтветитьAre you running a compressor or is that distortions natural compression? Ive been looking to build a Rat pedal but havnt found the parts till now so Thank You
ОтветитьI like the price of your kit and how you assemble it I've also looked online at a lot of kits and a lot of them will cost as much as a pedal cost so there's got to be a more cost-effective way to build them.
Ответить😃
ОтветитьI watched your whole video and read the 49 comments before mine. I think it took guts to record everything and leave in your mistakes, it will probably save some noobs from making some of the same ones. As far as it is a bit sloppy, that's more of a personality thing, as long as you're happy with it, that's cool. I love that you just attacked that bish and made it your own. And like you said, it's a homemade one and it's going to look the part :D The only thing I could add that hasn't been mentioned yet is that you didn't have to struggle so much with that LED, and even change the height of the foot switch. Just attach some wires and put it where ever you want.
ОтветитьObviously you are lacking any sense of precision in your building effort..... well, if you are happy, that it works at all, that should be fine however. For me looking at your drilling of the holes, in the roughly approximate position they should be in, was painful.
ОтветитьDo you have the schematic?
ОтветитьThank you for making such a great informative video. I’m looking forward to building.
ОтветитьOn the legs I think 2mm is industry standard. I like to clean the board with a soft toothbrush and isopropil alcohol. Easy to see cold joints or bad joins. Bet good work.
ОтветитьHi to you.
You had a printed pcb and just put the components in the places and soldered.
But many like me don't have access to this pcb.
Please draw a circuit diagram and show exactly how the components should be connected.
Thanks Buddy 🙏
Rock it before you box it. 223 means 22 x 10^3 pF = 22nF.
ОтветитьThis pedal has outlived the Ibanez TS and OD line hands down..
It truly is the desert island pedal of all time..
It is so versatile and Amp friendly it's ridicules..
Didn’t find a new workspace? Im developing a new addiction and this is awesome material 🤩
ОтветитьWhy do these videos say build your own and then it's just putting together a kit ?
No wonder there are no new circuits and everyone is just putting together clone kits
Hey there, nice video! One thing though : you don't have to remember where the dot is under the DIP8 socket, it has a curve that needs to match at one side, that you clearly missed, cause you soldered the socket upside down :) Yet again, thanx for great content!
ОтветитьBlue oyster cult meets Hendrix
ОтветитьThanks for the video! One small comment, the reason for the sockets is not only for changing the IC, some ICs are sensitive and they can be damaged by the soldering process
ОтветитьI have built Tayda pedals before with success. I’m on my second Tayda Rat and although I get a straight signal through it when I turn on effect I get nothing but a lit LED.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
Do you sell a DIY Rat?
ОтветитьI bought mine from Wuhan several mos. back for 28.00 fully built included shipping and it was sent me as gift
Ответитьthat's cool man. sounds really good. what amp were you using? I skip thru it.
ОтветитьSounds like Rat!! Great video!
ОтветитьI watch this as ASMR
ОтветитьWhat about doing the artwork?
That is the hardest parts.
I know Capacitors have a positive and negative side, is this so with the Resistors? I see the coloured bands around them, they mean something? Does it make a difference which way they are inserted into the board? Thanks by the way, i don't understand why this has only had 9448 views? I will be sharing the link, thanks again Baldur. I'm subscribing bro, when i get my channel up and running hope you'll pay me a visit. God bless.
ОтветитьWhy did you install the op-amp socket upside down ? IT also has the cut out as marked on the silkscreen on the board to indicate pin 1...
ОтветитьWould you recommend this for an absolute beginner?
ОтветитьHi, why did you use a TL071? better use a OP07 like rat II, this one doesn´t use the compensation capacitor neither. Original is LM308 which uses comp cap.
Ответитьsince this the first video of yours i watch it was very informative and very educational for me since i have never done anything like this before it’s not easy but not that hard either thank you very much for posting these kinds of DYI videos especially for a beginner like me now fortunately for me i have a good friend i’ve known for about 35 yrs that is a wiz at stuff like this that can help me he mods stuff all of the time even amps and i must say that rat pedal clone sounds pretty decent i’m looking forward to watching your other videos on the tube screamer and the over drive and i hope that was red paint on your left palm and not blood lol at the end of your video
ОтветитьHow much for you to build me a Gonk? 🤔
ОтветитьDo you have to have the stereo output jacks, or would mono jacks suffice? Only asking because the mono jacks are a fraction of the price and the stereo jacks are out of stock at Tayda :(
ОтветитьI've been doing some minor soldering and building, but nothing like this— thanks for filming the whole thing and being honest with the issues. I think I might be able to handle it.
