The "Failure" of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

Hey bedrock players! Before you leave an angry comment, I suggest you watch the entire video throughout - it is a fair comparison and I talk about the experience of bedrock edition from the perspective of someone who has always played the java edition and why the game didn't captivate the existing java audience. Objectively, bedrock is a more popular game and I mention this quite a bit too. Little bit disheartening seeing the number of people who won't watch an entire opinion piece before getting mad and leaving a negative comment.

bedrock feels like a rip off of java

the only thing i like about bedrock is how easy it is to play multiplayer. that's it. i just wish you could join friends' worlds without having to create a server in java, but i'd prefer java all the way even with this issue.

I've been playing Minecraft since it came out on Xbox 360 then migrated to the Xbox one then migrated to Windows 10 edition, and I agree but we should settle our differences and come together and just play Minecraft because Minecraft is meant to be a game and not a controversial mess. But if you like mods play java if you like playing with friends without spending money play bedrock but I will say bedrock does run way better than java.

The reason why Minecraft bedrock edition has more players than java is because 99% of them are all just kids who play the game for a few minutes and then never play it again afterwards

I play on mobile so I’m definitely biased along with mobile having such a big disadvantage in Java pvp but in the few bedrock Java compatible servers (yes they actually do exist) that have the most recent Java pvp I can say 100% if bedrock had Java pvp a lot of consoles with limiting features will suffer A LOT and make it so basically anyone on computer wins every match against most other devices but on the other hand bedrock pvp also kinda sucks in some ways first of all in basically any mode you can hold these stupid combos that let u put them ABOVE UR FREAKING HEAD and cuz ur atack is from ur head it also gives then an extra 2 block reach so u can hold these forever unless they got ranged weapons snowballs and such make it incredibly easy to do those combos and kb is Jank like one hit can send you 3 blocks with just a fist and others send u half a block and shields are the most jank why? Cuz it’s shields with no hit cooldown but they also knock u back a block ish when u hit them EVEN WITH AXES so sometimes you can launch ur self if u hit there shield without an axe and the rest of the time shields gives free combos or atleast a hit cuz it launches u in the air to so for any 1.8 I think idk the one without the hit cooldown it’s basically free hit select but way easier and better AND REMEMBER IT HAPPENS EVEN WITH AN AXE so it makes shields broken also abt the Redstone Javas Redstone is WAYYYYYYYYYYYY better in every way except for bedrock pushing more stuff with pistons just watch a vid abt it if u want to learn more only thing bedrock has is it’s simpler with Redstone but eh nobody’s going to see this so piece out ✌🏼

I will say abt the world stuff you are able to unlock settings and in all the packs/worlds I’ve seen they don’t go on forever so if u unlock settings and tp thousands of blocks a way then set world spawn there u should be good

so bedrock redstone is better than java? never heard that before

simply watching pvp in bedrock edition looks really clunky and like something straight out of beta, i like 1.9 combat system way better than 1.8 but i dont dislike the ladder, but bedrock just looks weird, out of place, and a cheap mobile game on pc

The RTX stuff on bedrock was so disappointing too, you can only use them on the worlds they provide you which is pointless

I have another problem as a bedrock player and it's the boss fights because while they seem fine on the surface and the wither is the enderdragon fight suuuuuuuucks because I play on the Nintendo switch and mobile but the dragon summons like 20000 particles and creates an ungodly amount of noise during the fight which makes it just feel much worse

ive played both versions for almost 10 years now and i 100% think java is better.

main bedrock cons:
-on bedrock realms, your render distance is hard stuck at like 8, making it very annoying to explore
-theres a chat filter that you cannot control, even on single player
-the marketplace is just a scam altogether
-the offhand is useless besides totems and ig shields
-updating old worlds seems to cause major issues, especially in superflat
-a lot of things feel really out of place, and lighting, texture, and mob glitches are everywhere
-hardcore isnt in the game most likely because bedrock devs know the game is too glitchy for it
-blinking
-you have to set up a cauldron to dye anything
-no challenge besides encountering glitches and the wither
-"minecoins"
-they keep adding weird features to make parity a lot more difficult to achieve
-no /fill biome
-majority of the bedrock players are little kids.
-mob spawning is broken af
-every exp farm in the game either is based off a glitch that will be patched or the farm just sucks and is very innefficient


bedrock pros:
-building in creative is a lot easier when hand-placing blocks
-higher render distance with smoother fps
-much better wither fight
-pistons can move containers, but with the weird ass redstone, kinda ruins that special feature
-big salmon :)

java cons:
-pc performance,( although can be fixed with addons very easily if you know how to install them right)
-harder to set up multiplayer

java pros:
-can build on the nether roof
-OG game
-useful left hand (literally anything can go in there)
-mods are easy to get
-no chat filter
-hardcore
-hypixel
-version swapping
-easier to set up game rules when creating a world, as well as custom superflat options
-can right click to use a shield

My major complaint with bedrock edition is that there is tons of bugs and it feels like they are adding new bugs in every bug fix update.
It also seems like bugs that have already been fixed return after a few updates.

I don't actually use mods or resource packs in Minecraft Java Mostly that was my main platform to play but bruh I tried Bedrock it runs so smooth, I can enjoy animations without worrying about FPS drops at all but in Java as soon as the installation completes boom All animations OFF.

basic run down of the whole topic over simplified if your surious about minecraft but dont have the income to get java you play bedrock then when your older and start getting and income and are just as surius about minecraft you get java along with the neccesary hardware and if you fortunate to have the finacel suport to have java you play java not bedrock as simple as that

i dont like bedrock because i am used to playing it on the peice of shit nintendo switch that cant tun the game if i sprint in a direct line eventually no matter what render distance i set it to it will eventually stop loading chunks until i wait for it to load in i havent gotten an aletra yet but i probly wont even use it

Correction: the legacy console versions of the game are based from Java beta 1.6.6, but with multithreaded code, unlike PC Java

As a bedrock main with 3k hours I personally prefer bedrock over java

The redstone in bedrock is actually worse since the priority of pistons is random, there are also less mods for bedrock and the chunk loading is just because it loads less detailed the farther but you can get a mod to fix this for java edition.

Honestly the thing I hate the most is the way the controls feel on bedrock, like the inventory animation makes it feel sluggish and unresponsive, and the mouse feels harder to control and delayed. Kinda disappointing to play after using Java for years

Bedrock and java is balanced player catagoryyy bedrock has less voilent people bc their mobile and in java has more skilled players

I play bedrock simply because I prefer it over Java. I play Java solely for Hypixel Skyblock.

The feature difference between the two isn't even what bothers me.
It's just that playing Bedrock Edition outright feels wrong.

It doesn't feel like Minecraft to me and instead it feels like a close, but still not correct approximation of it

The only reason I have a windows10 bedrock license is because I got it for free during that beta state of it

The main difference between the Minecraft versions seems to be the amount of freedom given to players.

Java edition is a true sandbox. The only limits are what the game's code is capable of. Everything from simple commands to mods are available to alter your experience while playing. This was the very concept that spawned Minecraft in the first place and it's what keeps it alive today despite Mojangs very slow updates.

Bedrock however, is extremely limited. In order to keep console/mobile platforms happy they have to sacrifice the freedom that Minecraft became beloved for. In it's place is a corporate marketplace filled with gaudy and useless add-ons that wouldn't be out of place in Bethesda's creation club or a B tier MMO's cash shop.

In short, Bedrock Edition sacrifices a lot of what made Java Edition great in order to be a multi-platform game. On top of that the marketplace pours salt in the wound as its existence alone presents a constant pay wall in front of the freedom of creativity that is at the heart of what made Java Edition so amazing.

We need the legacy back 🥺

Java is better because it gets real big boy frame rates. People play bedrock because they do not have a pc.

Ik this video is old, but if you go to your minecraft pack directory and go to the "paid" something something folder you can just copy the bp and rp into your base rp/bp folders

my main issue with bedrock is the graphics, its just too bright
I really loved legacy and pocket edition and bedrock ruined those for me

not to mention, you can't even pause bedrock singleplayer, or minimize it without leaving a server and having to wait for it to completely load again.

honistly my own opinion about the 2 is bedrock is a cashgrab
