'Living with less'.... C'mon, what an insulting comment to the 99% living paycheck to paycheck.

This home, and the land it sits on, is beyond luxury. It's a piece of paradise on this Earth.
It's beautiful and be proud of it, but don't act like it's something attainable by the majority of people by suggesting you're 'living with less'.

I am in awe.

I really enjoyed watching the video and seeing the beautiful house and garden. But I actually laughed out loud at the end. Why do both the architect and homeowner need to layer on the idea that it is not extravagant? The architect uses the word "modest" twice. She notes the emotional and psychological benefits of "living with less and not being a slave to your possessions." Really? There is probably a whole team of people that need to make sure that the house is tended to. Why not just enjoy your wealth and ability to create beauty?

I love the concept. I have always advocated for living the eco lifestyle where you bring the outside to the inside and set the inside outside. A great combination of lifestyle and nature. I have been building this way for years myself...but this is an absolute pearl!

It's not really "living with less" when your house costs several millions dollars... It's stunning though,really beautifull, but I'm just a bit shocked by the deconnection of the owner.

Mr Kundig is a very talented architect, however it is somewhat off-putting that this house and others he has designed in the Pacific NW are only available to multi-millionaires.

They are gems for their owners certainly, nothing wrong with that. However, my goal as an amateur designer (in my retirement) is to provide kit-homes from steel portal frames, using a fraction of the parts a stick-built home consumes, requiring 1/10th the construction time, to deliver a 1500 - 2500 sf home for $100 psf. If I am able to accomplish this difficult task, I would challenge Mr. Kundig to apply his demonstrably better skill-set in service of the other 99.8%. We shall see.
