I meant 2021 at the end team 😂😎
ОтветитьClick butt.
Ответитьcould I take a 6'0 Happy Hour, if I am 175 cm tall with 65 kilos? more intermediate than beginner
ОтветитьRule of thumb for a beginner get a board thats a foot longer than your height. 22 inches wide is a good width . Not too much rocker in the tail or the nose. 5 8 seems a bit short for a beginner board tbh.
ОтветитьI will not watch videos with the same dumb internet “extreme sports” guitar lick clap track type song in it.
It’s so annoying. Bouncing. Byeeee!
This is counter to the entire ethos of the 8' foamie - I'm inclined to think that the 8' is just fine for the first few weeks or months before moving onto a mid-length with a lot of volume. But 6'6" 45L in my first 6 months of surfing seems too ambitious.
ОтветитьHey there! I'm 1.81m x 91kg (5'11" x 200lb), did 4/5 surf sessions and am already hooked to it (quite obvious coming from skate/snowboard)! I want to buy a beginner surfboard to start progressing solidly, what about a 7'8" 75L foamie or the same board but 8'6" 90L volume? Any other suggestions like a mini mal? Thx!
ОтветитьLove your vids Kale - I’ve taken up surfing again aged 57. I learnt to surf in Jersey (UK) in the 80s and now live in Dunbar (Scotland). I’m RUBBISH but determined (would you consider ditching background music on your vids?)
Ответитьgood job!
ОтветитьRight when I heard something in the middle I got a flashback of Big Z from that penguin surfer movie lmaoo
ОтветитьHey man, love your videos. I am riding a 6 6 soft top right now. I would consider myself a beginner still but was wondering if you would recommend the lost rnf 96? I really want to transition to a short board. I am use to skating and snowboarding and just riding smaller boards in general. I am 6 ft 3 and about 185 pounds. There are only 2 sizes a 5 11 and 5 9. Let me know your thoughts thanks !
ОтветитьI was told by the shop a 6’6”wasn’t for me because I was new to surfing however I’ve been doing board sports my whole life and consistently snowboard powder which actually correlates more than you realize they suck me on a 9’ and got up on my first wave I tried on and I was bored by the end of my first session next time my buddy let me use his a 5’8” foamy that really allowed me to understand turning so much better I hate when shop guys pretend they are the all knowing eye especially because I’m a skinny guy I don’t need all the literage to stay up
ОтветитьI love seeing videos like this. I'm a total beginner and just bought my first foamy. The look of my board is the least of my worries as far as cool factor goes. When I actually get up, my form is so aesthetically unappealing that the coolest looking board on planet Earth isn't going to help. LOL
ОтветитьAs a first timer, I was doing amazing I thought I was a pro surfer! I could duck dive on a longboard and I’m saving up some money to get a pointed nose surf board! 🤙
ОтветитьWould you recommend more liters when the waves aren't as powerful? We live in the North of North Holland, The Netherlands, and the lower waves for beginners aren't that powerful. I want to start practicing turning and surfing along the rail but the waves on clean days are usually pretty small. However I feel that too many liters slow me down too much and the board isn't being sucked into the wall of the wave as easy.
Ответитьwrong answer the only answer is wavestorm
ОтветитьDo you recommend the hard or soft board for the happy hour epoxy? Thanks for the great vid!
ОтветитьIs the epoxy version of the board just as good??
ОтветитьI’m a beginner. I keep falling off my board while laying down it’s so frustrating
ОтветитьIs there a lot of difference in maneuverability between, for example, a 6'6 and a 7' softech roller?
ОтветитьGhyat
ОтветитьI shape balsa boards for my own, but one of my favourite boards is the 6.0 foamie 😍
ОтветитьJust came across your channel, it’s really informative without being aggressive.. GGS man, ✌️
ОтветитьHey man, can a beginner surfer switch immediately to a retro fish after 4 sessions on a long board? Or even without experience on a long board, can you actually learn to surf on a retro fish? Thanks man!
ОтветитьI tried a long board a few times and then instantly bought a 6’6 foam funboard around 50lt (similar to the one kale recommended) Perfect and easier to handle than a 9” long board. I’d say especially if you’re a smaller adult going straight to a buoyant foam fun/hybrid board will most likely work for you
Ответитьunderstood but now I am 95kg. so boards need to be longer and have higher volume correct? so 60l 8.6 feet for example MF Beastie is great? i do surf skate to get prepared and am. capable to ride bowls and survive. expert advice highly appreciated!
ОтветитьKale - Great stuff! I just finished your "Ultimate Surfboard Buying Guide course. It totally changed how I'm looking at my potential progression as a beginner surfer. Quick question: In the Buying Guide, you use a formula to calculate the correct volume of a board. Is that same formula applicable to foam boards? Thanks and keep shredding!
ОтветитьYou use the Happy Hour Softboard with a wetsuit... Wondering if your skin and body gets scratch or hurt not using the wetsuit? Is this a rough surfboard to use in warm areas like caribbean?
ОтветитьBuying my first board and im torn between something in the 6 - 7’ range or 8’ range. Surfing fresh water small waves mostly 2 - 4 feet. The odd trip for ocean surfing. i have small amounts of surfing experience but plenty of other board sports experience. I am 6’ and weigh 175lbs. Any direction is appreciated.
ОтветитьHave any good suggestions? I’m looking for something about 7+ Ft tall and decently thick.
Also something decently minimal. Thx
Have you tried the Formula Fun Board? Or has anyone else? I was thinking of getting one but wanted a true opinion. Website below...
What is the highest recommended foamie for a beginner progressing to intermediate, and very athletic?
I started learning on a 7'2" Walden Mega Magic. Still a beginner, and still learning a lot after a year, but I'm thinking about investing in a 7'6" sharper nose board with less volume. The mega magic will still serve a purpose but bigger days its just too much. Thoughts?
ОтветитьYes the "Coolness": Nobody really cares how cool you are at the end of the day. One bad accident with a fiberglass board or razor sharp fin and your "coolness" could be changed for life.
Our society seems to hide away those who are injured or permanently damaged (brain or otherwise) from certain sports.
There is always risk even with a foam but the idea is to reduce it. Fun + health > coolness/ego surfing. Stay Free from others opinions of you!
Am I going to be able to learn on the 5’ foamie fish I just bought?
Ответитьgreat video thanks!
ОтветитьWhere’s the best places to buy them and save money?
ОтветитьGreat video! I really enjoy my 7ft Wavestorm and it cost me 350 dollars less than that 6'6" Happy Hour.
Ответитьis that ok if i use 7 ft softboard instead of 6.6'' ft ?
Ответитьwas wondering why my board was so tiring in the surf lol. It was my first session but my board is 8ft and im 70kg's. Might look at a smaller board.
ОтветитьU think catch surf RNF 6'5 is good for first board, 6’5” x 21.5” x 3.0” (56 Liters)
ОтветитьI'm wanting to buy my first surfboard, I'm 5'2 and 53kg and a beginner, I have no idea what size board to get
ОтветитьThe best beginner surfboard is anything that doesn't involve thinking you can learn to surf on a two week holiday in Costa Rica.
ОтветитьI got a 5”8 fun board and it is a game changer, absolutely inlove with it 🤙🏼
ОтветитьWhat about being a big surfer like being 250 pounds
ОтветитьWhat is the surf board type progression?
Foam board (beginner) > fun board (beginner/ intemed) > ?? > short board (Adv) ?
I've just started surfing last couple of months, I found a foam really easy riding standing but couldn't turn much because of its size.
I don't want to spend a lot of money buying different boards, but I'm pretty keen to find a board i can duck dive with but also has some stability.
What you reckon?
I just started surfing this summer and really wanna get my first board, im just wondering if your weight has a part to play when choosing the right board, alot people suggest to me a 8 foot board as I am 80kg, I don't mind the big board but I really wanna advance my mobility
Ответитьglad i watched this video lol. have an 8' catchsurf log that is great but surfing in green water isnt fun. just picked up a 6'4" pyzel gremlin xl for a groveller that can be fun and beginner friendly
Ответитьi just dont get how foam boards are nearly as much in price as the hard boards there is so much labor involved in hard boards and a foam board only needs human touch in shipping lol so a foam board in my eyes should be about 1/10th the price of a hard board so basically you pay a lot for a hard board that most the price is in labor and a foam most of the price is contributing the makers Lamborghini.
so for me i would endure a slower progression and pay very little more for someones hard work and craftsmanship
no one will know im a newb till they notice im getting rolled up in 3 ft waves hahaha
