I think it’s possible that the flashing process isn’t always perfect and this can yield incorrect data flashed onto certain cartridges. The probability of it seems very, very low, but it’s certainly possible, from a hardware perspective.

Apparently one guy accidently tilted it to the point where the system thought the game was a pirated copy, and some pretty creepy anti-piracy measures followed involving the Wario apparition.

I never really enjoyed playing super mario 64 because the emptiness and quietness made me feel like there was something trying to get me

y'know, if people stopped using this concept for creepypastas and used it for something a bit more creative, i would like it a bit more. like, for example, "SM64 personalized for a Final Fantasy fan" could have various FF bosses replace the SM64 bosses. of course, King Bob-Omb would be replaced by garland, while whomp king could be replaced by one of the many versions of the Demon Wall.

One other thing, the wall of translucent water as a counterpart of a painting to get to Dire Dire Docks is always rippling. It never Stills, meaning that there is always something there keeping it going. sPoOkY
