To be honest that would have been me if it had not been for your post. Makes clear sense once explained.

Thank you for the clear and informative explanation regarding the current software update rollout. I have 3.2 SW and I am happy to wait for the update to 3.7 as there is no point in getting annoyed about something that you cannot control.

Not sure what version my 2023 80X Sportline is running, but it's quite laggy and wasn't laggy when bought in Dec 2023.
I hope yesterdays update will help, but suspect it will have minimal effect.
Whichever way one looks at this, Skoda (or the VAG Group), could be doing much more to help, in terms of customer satisfaction.
They seem to be doing the bare minimum, or nothing.
The Enyaq is lovely though.

Software/Hardware VW have just screwed up. Apple have different hardware that runs all software with some date issues. i.e. my 2017 iPad Pro has not updated to OS 18 just released. 7 years of support is not bad. Skoda are leaving cars behind virtually ever 6 months. This is Simply 💩

An iPhone Xs receives updates to ios18. Different hardware compared to an iPhone 16. A car, delivered a year ago, on 3.6, is not getting an update to 4.x. Unacceptable in the world we live in today. Even if hardware isn’t fully compatible, software can still be updated.
Cars with 5.x get remote parking via phone. On a 3.x software fork, this feature, that was advertised in the folder when I ordered my Enyaq, yet, is not going to be available on my car…

They should understand that ev vehicles are constantly evolving literally every couple of months hence why 2nd hand prices are so low because its old technology. EV vehicles are a horrendous investment unless your leasing it

A lot of people ever will find reasons to complain about everything. You compared the software topic with smartphones and thats correct (more or less). Apple provides e.g. iOS 18 for the iPhone 13 but i can't have the exact features because of the hardware (camera, further apps etc). Simply enjoy the Enyaq models you have

Main problem (at least for me and many others with 3.x Enyaqs) is that the hardware is there and can do the thing we need, it is just the software that doesn't support it. I am referring of course to battery pre-heating for charging - an essential feature for cold climates with real winters.

Again, this is a consequence of Skoda not communicating with its customers. No communication is bad communication!
Like with an iPhone update or Windows 9, 10 or 11 we expect more functionality on the same device. Same goes for the Enyaq which is a “device” driven by software to provide you the functionality.
Skoda made some progress by communicating a bit more on updates on their website. It would be helpful if Skoda’s Eric takes care of an article on the Software update pages explaining this subject in layman’s terms.

Well explained, thank you. PS - Skoda EV lounge do not seem to be accepting joining requests, despite the fact I've been driving an Enyaq nearly two years!

I'm on 4.0 and waiting for 5.x features like app-based parking to come to 4.x, as it was advertised as a feature on my car when I bought it!

Interesting, I get the numbering convention. It's perfectly understandable. I think they need to do a software roadmap page and matrix to show what will and won't be possible on the various iterations of hardware. We must also remember that it maybe that V6 hardware allows something due to changes in the car's mechanical hardware (uprated heat pump or new motor with more options). While I don't think this will be a problem like it is with iPhones or Android phones (as an example), it could still be an issue and I think if Skoda had some pages communicating that, it would be helpful. Also, are you having issues with the My Skoda App since the OTA update? My car (on 3.2) has been in "Need Activating' state since Wednesday 25/9/24 and a call to Skoda confirmed it was a server issue...

Honestly they better be updating 3.x cars….ours is a 24 reg with version 3.7 so if they don’t provide updates to a 24 reg car then they got some explaining to do.

I appreciate your trying to clear the software version confusion, but your iOS on Pixel example is a rather unfortunate analogy. The analogy would only work if you’d stick to Apple hardware when talking iOS software. The whole confusion is caused by Skoda themselves. Different hardware versions require different software drivers/controlling modules having different version numbers, fair enough. But on top of that, Skoda should develop a uniform (as possible) UI (user interface) with a straightforward versioning system. Sure, due to older hardware or options not fitted, not all functions and options would be present, supported, or accessible, but I see no reason why not all Enyaqs can have the same UI. Basically, it’s just like Matthias explained in his boardroom video: he might have an iPhone 12, you could have the latest iPhone 16 with much newer hardware, but both of you run iOS version 18. It’s just that the older iPhone 12 will not support all functions due to the older hardware.

Thanks for the explanation- personally since my 21 iV60 got upgraded to 3.7 from 3.0 quite pleased with the improvements and as a bonus believe the car is now more efficient. This was a dealer upgrade which took 2 days. Cars on 3.1 or 3.2 are still awaiting OTA updates to 3.7 as I understand the situation which is unacceptable. My 2022 Tesla M3 has different hardware to later models, however, I still the same regular updates as 23/24 models - all OTA which real tangible improvements. Similarly my Apple iPhone 12 and iPad get the same IOS updates. So whilst Skoda are getting better they are still lagging behind Tesla and Apple imo and unless I see the gap closed by the time my Enyaq is due for replacement next year am likely to look elsewhere.

But but...there is no new hw for preheating, so why does 3.x still not have it?

Just received my Enyaq on Version 4.0 - I went into a dealer and asked the tech guy how I get the latest 4.x. He was not very convincing with the answer, does 4.0 got to 4.x with an OTA update, or is it a dealer upgrade ?

I took your advice, and upgraded my Enyaq 3.0 hardware to the Model 3 Highlander. Software, charging speeds and infrastructure on a different level. 👍🏻
