Would love to know what is currently inspiring these photographers! Whether it's a person, a book they're reading, or a movie or whatever. Past influences say one thing and current inspiration is something else-- I think so anyway.
Great content by the way!
Cheers
Everything that Reuben said is gold.
ОтветитьI feel like Reuben is the Rick Rubin of the street photography world
Ответитьwould love to see you and reuben talk about each other's and other photographers' work more. what works about a photo/sequence, what doesn't, what a specific body of work says, etc
ОтветитьConfucius says "tear up the paper" 👌😁
ОтветитьTop 👍
ОтветитьHey Paulie
I’m new to film and am absolutely loving it I’m from Long Island and was. Curious is you know of any work shops or meet ups where I can learn a thing or 2 by experienced it’s easy to go out and shot but maybe like a workshop or a walk with a few photographers to share and exchange information would be great and a lot of fun 👏 keep on the interesting content love it !
Love this so much. Whatever form it takes in the future, I’ll be watching! ❤️
ОтветитьStreet Therapy for Street Photographers - haha I love these vids, Paulie B🤘

ОтветитьAlways good to hear Reuben talk - always thoughtful responses.
ОтветитьGreat stuff Paulie. Always a pleasure listening to Reuben.
ОтветитьI am a young 62 and just getting started with “street” photography. I put “street” in quotes because I don’t necessarily like categorizing photography into a category. I am just, a photographer, better yet, just an artist. It’s hard not to put a label on your work and I don’t do that. Nothing wrong with others categorizing their work like that, it’s just something I don’t do. Anyway, I find myself in the middle of a suburban jungle with what seems to have little to photograph. I use to just say “this place has no character” but that’s because I didn’t look at it through a child’s mind. I am now starting to explore my local community and will see what I can come up with. The reason for all those words coming at you first Paulie, is ever time I listen to one of your videos I learn that it looks like you are always looking at NYC in different ways and produce some unique images. I relate to you and especially Reuben Radding. His genuine self, is so refreshing and makes me want to do better. His work shows that to me, genuine, not new, but genuine. Thanks for these Office Hours, they are inspiring even to a grumpy old artist like me.
ОтветитьI would move to New York for you guys, awesome people, awesome stories ! Bravo !
ОтветитьSoooo good! More please!
ОтветитьReuben has a way of talking I could listen to for days
ОтветитьOver here taking depressing photos with no-one in them.... maybe I need to hang back from externalising what's in me a bit!
Ответить🐐Reuben Radding 🐐

ОтветитьLove you two! Thank you for this📷🙌
ОтветитьRuben is always great
Ответить"Originality to me is just to me an artist finding a real clarity in externalizing what they have in them already." Getting these sort of philosophies distilled down to single lines sounds poetic, but it's loaded. It's unfiltered wisdom built from a lot of reflection. He drops them constantly, too.
ОтветитьThat young boy radding out here
Ответитьim fraudconsumption!! thanks for answering my question, its given me alot more to think about and question, hearing a different perspective is always helpful, i liked the idea of dissatisfaction being fuel :)
ОтветитьYay more rules.

ОтветитьEntertaining as always guys.
Ответитьanother great one!
ОтветитьAs an amateur photographer, someone who would like to do something for work but ends up taking pictures as a hobby, I really respect you guys who are fully immersed and passionate about your craft.
On the topic of the title, I have to say that "american street photography" kinda looks all the same, it's difficult to tell who took any picture.
Even if a photographer can make you feel the moment, or manage to give some authorial feel to a shot, they all follow some cliche and common imagery.
Like old man with hat crossing the street, spontaneous kids, old woman with strong wrinkles, someone jumping...ecc..
They look good on film, but it's rare to see a photo that stands out.
Especially if you see some Instagram profiles, you can flip trough the screen and you think "yeah it's great to go out everyday and shooting, but they all looks the same".
It's a beautiful research but I wouldn't stress over originality and uniqueness for this reasons.
Man, that stair convo was unreal. Soooo much knowledge getting thrown around there. Much respect to you and Rueben.
