Should i change the filter too?
ОтветитьLucky there is a drain plug.
Need to do that 10 or more times (and run it off jacks) to do a proper flush. You’re basically diluting the old fluid with new fluid till all is new.
(I don’t change the filter but if you want to you can remove the pan before you you fill the last pan. But I wouldn’t.)
can I do this is my Subaru Forester? drain and refill with the exact amount that came out? Great video! Thank you :)
Ответитьflushing your tranny doesn't hurt it, its a myth, most people who do flushes that end up ruining the tranny probably already had problems with the trans and thought flushing it would fix it,.
ОтветитьBut lifetime is exactly that! If you buy a Chinese ball bearing race and it lasts three weeks on an assembly line that is its life. If you buy an American or European assembly and it lasts three years that is its life. Lawyers are clever as are the engineers they protect. In 1970 the British army - I kid you not on this because I was using these items - purchased ball bearing races from Poland - remember that date and they failed when we fired anti tank action on field artillery. That was their lifetime. The purchase system thought they had reduced maintenance costs they had just curtailed our offensive ability. Never go for cheapest option and stay with your own supply!
ОтветитьDon't you need to change the filter?
ОтветитьCan we get a mobile mechanic like Wrench or the other ones, to do this?
ОтветитьNissan CVTs are str8 garbage
ОтветитьCastrol makes Honda approved CVT transmission fluid. Isn’t that a reputable brand?
ОтветитьI was told my transmission is a completely sealed unit. Is this the case? 07 toyota tundra SR5
ОтветитьOut of all the mechanics I ever met he actually tells the truth I mean I didn’t ever meet him, I’m just saying if people really listen to him he’s actually keeping it 100% real
ОтветитьI’ll take that fluid if you saved it.
ОтветитьTypical of CVT. Metal filings are from the plates and belt rubbing each other. Ive seen a toyota vios cvt break down at just 60k odo. These metal filings and there were a lot of them clogged the oil filter inside.
ОтветитьYese
ОтветитьAnyone have a tutorial for how to change trans fluid on 2018 Lexus is 350?
ОтветитьWhat about the filter?
ОтветитьScotty I have a 2014 Venza AWD V6….105,000 miles runs and shifts very well….is it too late to do a fluid change on the trans? Should I risk it? I have the oem Toyota fluid for the car….thanks…Andy
ОтветитьI dont care who makes it. NO CVTs for me Scotty.
ОтветитьScotty, when you gonna buy a lift?
ОтветитьThat’s not knowledge that’s a battle between manufacturers and us. Manufacturers are just f’ing with us not impressed you have to call in a lawyer a doctor and nasa to change oil this is b.s. I’m going to refuse to buy a newer vehicle some brain power and a 100 dollar scan tool does a 2005 era I can figure out anything I’m staying AWAY ! From that cat and mouse crap.
ОтветитьAfter watching some of your videos and others as well, drain and fill is the way to go. And I've been following this advice ever since 2019. Ive literally done this on 5 different vehicles.
ОтветитьThe United States of SCAMerica!
ОтветитьHey Scotty, what is your recommendation on a 2011 Sienna with 230,000 Highway miles & transmission fluid change that was never done? Thank you.
ОтветитьI just did my 2019 GMC Acadia. Even easier.
ОтветитьIs this a good idea. With the extra ounces of clean transmission fluid remaining. I want to run it down the transmission ensuring any additional debris are natural removed by gravity from inside the transmission before topping it off with the proper amount of the same clean transmission fluid recommended for my vehicle?
ОтветитьFor me, stick shift all the way!
ОтветитьWhat about the filters? Shouldn’t they also be changed
ОтветитьScotty I hate Toyota Honda and other Japanese brands, simply hate of You too Because you stupidly deny the best car brands in the world
Ответитьi don't know what kinda honda dealer that told you that you don't have to change the fluid but every honda dealership i know recommend it every 30k just like all the old transmissions. Why would there be service codes that tells you on the dash to change them. Why would they even sell the cvt fluids in the first place if you don't need to change them 😅
ОтветитьStory, when are you going to get a lift? Your getting to old to be on the ground working on cars. Thanks for all the thing you bring to person's on cars. Randolph
ОтветитьThe car should be levelled when you drain and refill...
ОтветитьI changed mine. It probably didn't need it. Only cost $45 though for the fluid. Undo a couple of bolts (fill bolt first in case it doesn't undo)
ОтветитьHmmm....flushes are evil. Heard this before, dont buy it. Flushes are performed with the transmission's own pump. The machine attaches to the coolant lines and exchanges the fluid. How is that jamming particles into nooks and crannies anymore than normal operation? Sounds like FUD.
ОтветитьQuestion, Ik your not supposed to change the transmission fluid after 100k but how much after 100k should you leave it alone. Mine currently has 104k, been meaning to change it but I haven’t got the time to yet.
ОтветитьYou did not mention Subaru's CVTs. They are solid too IMHO.
ОтветитьI change my transmissions oil and filters every 80,000 miles whether it needs it or not. I have never flushed them.
ОтветитьThe "lifetime oil" thing reminds me of when I worked at a restaurant. Some old lady asked the manager if our mashed potatoes were "real potatoes". He said, "yes", then as he walked by me he whispered "real instant potatoes..." lol
ОтветитьWell you know if I do it myself I do have to worry about myself screwing it up.
ОтветитьTotally agree, there's no lifetime transmission fluid. I own a 2016 Honda Fit, and I found information about maintenance intervals when I bought it and strictly followed it. The maintenance should always be done on time. And you'll make your car last longer. It's not hard to do- just follow Scotty's instructions! :)
ОтветитьThank you very much my GF just got a Honda ILS and it's the first we have experienced and this information is vital.
ОтветитьHeck half of these transmission don't have dipstick anymore so the regular can't even check to make sure it's full it's not hard to read a owners manual and match the fluid type for the approved type
ОтветитьThank you, Scotty. I just drained and added the same amount of the Transmission fluid to my daughter's 2012 Kia Soul.
ОтветитьDo i change my fluid if I don’t know if it’s ever been changed? I got my car at 180k miles on and don’t know if it’s ever been changed and I know that it can mess things if I change fluid that’s never been changed before
ОтветитьShould I get an auto transmission serviced for a 2014 Camry at 170,000 km? It drives well without any shifting problems.
ОтветитьI have a 30 year old CVT in my Ford. Still runs very well.
ОтветитьHey Scotty, is there no filter and gasket that needs changing in CVT transmission?
Ответить40 miles a gallon? My 1.0liter does 1gal for cca 62miles (100kms)
ОтветитьYou are the best, Thanks Scotty 👍😎
