Loved your review. I've booked a sheltered balcon for my first trip on QM2 doing a transatlantic from New York. Im travelling solo so definitely plenty of room for me in that cabin.
All your videos have be fantastic and have really helped me research and look forward to my trip.
Happy future travels 🚢

Always a sheltered balcony. We were very lucky on my recent back to back crossing that we had Steven Payne (the naval architect who designed QM2) onboard for a series of lectures, and he explained why a lot of things were designed the way they were, of which sheltered balconies was one. Absolutely fascinating series of lectures and I feel very privileged to have met him and heard him talk.

Someone was telling me that it's cheaper staying in a cruise ship long term than it's is live in Britain I find it difficult to believe

Great review and I agree with everything you've said. I've spent a lot of time on this ship and in very stormy waters QM2 really can hold her own, but it does move about a bit in really really rough seas, so I always avoid the front cabins. I also totally agree with you about the hangers and the television (which is rubbish) and I take my own hairdryer.

We are trying a taster 3 night cruise on QM2 in November, very reassured that our choice of a sheltered balcony is a good one. Thank you!

Thanks for your kind message. In fact I did 2 others TA, one on QM2 in the new single cabin with these stunning round bulkhead windows…very nice, but no fresh air, and another TA with QV in a Interior cabin. The possibility that Covid will Return was also an issue for my choice. So thanks again for your advice. George

I ordered first TA to New York, than after reflection I ordered the complete roundtrip in „sheltered balcony cabin“ to avoid the crowds, stress, and bugs/rats 😂 in New York. I hope that I took the right decision for this roundtrip. Regarding the choice of the cabin this vidéo gave me the confirmation that I took the best cabin 😊

We loved the sheltered balcony for crossing the Atlantic. During our cruise, there is so much to see and experience on QM2. We only went out to the balcony, once maybe twice per day!!

Thank you for showing us that balcony, it looks ideal for inclement weather, that might be the incentive I need to book that cruise line for the fjords. Also, regarding those hangers, I now take my own fold up hangers just in case I get those hangers any where I go!

We went on recently and stayed in an outside cabin also deck 4. The main issue we had was the aircon blowing full power down the length of the cabin towards your face when in bed. (bed position was headboard against the window). This was our 10th cruise (first with cunard) and never had such an issue previously. Obviously we could control the temperature but not the force which was relentless and very loud. We both contracted c*vid on the final day and can't help suspecting the cabin ventilation played a part. We loved the ship, the food, the crew etc..... it was a great experience but that aircon issue we experienced has put us off doing a transatlantic on her.
P. S. Pinning our hopes on Queen Anne as she looks very promising so might have a go on her next year instead.

We've done six crossings [three round trip sailings so far] and we always pick a sheltered balcony room between the 'B' and 'D' staircases [midships]. On winter crossings, much of the exterior access [deck 7 to the promenade, deck 11 'observation deck' & the 'lookout' up top are often secured - but the sheltered balcony provides an oasis of calm with the wind just outside the aperture in the hull.

We've had a sheltered balcony before, and it was great. If you want to look at the water, stand up. Enjoyed your video as always.
Cheers,
Steve

We really loved our sheltered balcony on deck four. The balcony was really specious and you were definitely protected from the elements, although we had great weather apart from Olden. We also loved the cabin. Plenty of space snd that bed was very comfortable. We only turned the telly on once and watched an old black and white film. No idea what it was called.
We didn’t get a second bottle of fizz on Black and White night!! 🙁
We loved our cabin so much that we’ve booked one just a few doors down from our Fjord cruise for our TA next year.
