I really liked your walkthrough of "jedi knight the mystery of the sith" and "dark forces 2: jedi knight".
I think that they are very good game, mainly because of their very rich level deseign.
And I think that "dark forces 2" was the most interesting and richest of all Jedi Knight franchise. The reasons are that you have full freedom of the power you choose to get, that getting the secrets give you more force points which is a very rewarding mechanics, and finally the dark side mechanics where you can become a dark jedi by killing pedestrian... (plus I really like the cutscene for the story line, I think that for their game budget, it is very desent...XD)

Small things like these made me love old games

I've always been amazed by this game engine's ability to render huge rooms without any loss of framerate. One of my favorite examples is the duel with Maw, which takes place above a (literally) mile-deep chasm.

How did he put the model of darth vader on the mod?! And made Boba Fett stronger?!

When I first knew about this expansion pack was seeing the box in a store and being hyped just by looking at the cover which showed the player fighting Darth Vader. My cousin got the game as a gift, but ended up losing the disc for several years. When I went to his house in 2002, he had found it and we began playing it (I was a huge fan of JK1). He let me borrow the game which took me a few weeks to beat, but I was incredibly disappointed that Darth Vader was nowhere in the game.
That was the most false advertising I had ever seen

I certainly didn't know about this level; is it available in all versions of the game? If so, how can one play it, do we just wait until after the credits?

In my opinion Dark Forces II lacks the atmosphere in the levels that Dark Forces I had, and Outcast and Academy would also have. The levels just look bland to me and the story, especially that of Mysteries of the Sith, isn't much different. Also it doesn't compensate for this with better gameplay, the shooter mechanics are easily the worst of the series.

This is the second time this game pulls the 'jump into the void' trick. Although, anyone who's watched the movie realizes quite quickly that you're supposed to jump off the platform in this particular level.

Also, the 'put back your lightsaber and let Kyle attack you' is kind of hard to figure out. After all, you spent the entirety of the game shooting or cutting down almost anything thar crosses your path. Really clever way to force you to think outside the box, though. I already knew about it, but I imagine that the people playing back when it came out had a hard time figuring that one out.

What is peculiar about DF2 and MOTS level design is that all the large structures are really big – the Cloud City and Jerec Palace for instance – these aren't some props.

it’s not easy to activate this bonus level though, at least it wasn’t when I was a 9 yr old kid, you gotta mess with some .cog files if memory serves right

When I first time fought Vader in that tunnel, he followed me on the small ledge with the armor vest and then somehow fell off into the pit.

It would have been cool to have had a sort of late 90's Star Wars game series that recreated the OT in this game engine.

I think there's more colored lighting in this level than the entire rest of the single player missions.

Am I missing something? When I played this level back in the day, I fought Dark Mara in the carbonite chamber and Dark Kyle outside. No Vader at all.🤔
