Hi know Im a bit late to the party. One question: Can we use the apply method on the dataframes instead of all the for loops? I'm told it would be more efficient but I don't know for certain. Great video btw. Really helped consolidate a lot of the basics of pandas and coding in general

Hi, just started this course & finished the introduction section. At 17.20 it jumps into the 'building an equal weight S&P 500 index fund' project, but there are no details about how to install python or any of the libraries needed. It does say to go back to the introduction section, but there are no details about installing python in there either. Any suggestions on where to get those details

iexcloud sandbox is deprecated and doesn't work

very nice, thx. the IEX cloud testing sandbox is deprecated but able to workaround using other data provider. e.g. yfinance works fine for me.

Did I totally miss the section on where and how to install the proper dependencies? It's not in the first section of the video at all

Is it me or does the video skip Section 2 as outlined on github - 'Course Configuration and API Basics'? I don't see anything on cloning the repository or installing dependencies... it just jumps to the point of building the S&P500 project.

You can access the API with a free trial version for 7 days. You get the public and secret tokens. It works perfectly.

Finished the entire course in 3 days with the new API version ! Feels good!

do we need to learn data science for algorithmic trading

I would suggest using Polars instead of Pandas as it is much faster (yet a bit less ergonomic for Python users). It is heavily multi threaded and able to proces more data than fits you RAM

IEX has updated a lot of stuff, could we get a updated version of this course?

A great detailed starter course to learn some Python. As a licensed commodity trading advisor (and a software engineer), I would never advise someone to trade this though.

This is such a great video, covering many aspects of algo trading. I have a quick question, I was wondering, given all these code and knowledge, surely there are ways to improve upon the algorithm, and devise our own, sourcing from our own intelligence to make creative and sophisticated ideas come to fruition. However, I was thinking, how do I go about improving upon the algorithm? where do I start? What are some of the things I can consider editing on my own to implement what I feel is better? What resources do u suggest I use to help me figure out how to improve upon the current model that has been taught? much thanks in advance.

Don't like this video, you cut out the important part, which is how to set up the environment, can't run the installation, probably something to do with python version, getting errors.
