How to clone a Linux Hard Drive with Gparted

Holy crap molly, it actually worked. And I did it with a Veracrypt partition, and all the encrypted files are on the other drive now, same passwrd. I used Linux Mint, btw.

i would love to apologize to you but from what i can see their is no way that this could possibly work! gparted almost never boots, you have like less then 30% of it ever booting. in this case i see no way that you told it how to boot. you have no flags or mount point it does not even show a mount point so i would be astonished if you got this to boot. there is an option for mounting but i have ever seen it work! you have copied but thats all!

I have a disk that has Windows 10 and ubuntu installed on the same disk in different partitions, will gparted allow me to clone to a bigger ssd and keep my windows 10 and ubuntu dualboot intact?

you used the word CLONE . That is incorrect . you are NOT cloning a bootable drive . You are merely copying it. Very deceptive and ill informed tutorial

For a high speed and large m.2 nvme drive should i create an msdos partition table or a gpt partition table. Help. Google sure is like not helpful at all for an answer with this seeing as all of the search results plagiarize from each other and are barely ever relevant.

This isn't hard drive cloning. The disk isn't bootable.

This is not cloning a hard drive. It is cloning partitions. So you cannot boot from it.

And people say Linux is better ha! There's cloning software out there that works better in both Mac and Linux. But that's not what GPARTED was really meant for AFAIK. Convoluted "free" software.

copying is possible, but can't paste to new drive. I am using a usb3.0 flash drive to clone the hard disk...

ok so this is Not Cloning, this is not bootable. this is just a simple copy of files, but really its USELESS. because most of us want to clone, to a BOOTABLE drive, and this is Not the way. to proper clone you need Clonezilla, or DD clone. dont be fooled by this video, its just a simple way to copy files it its a spare drive for simple files only.

Seems kinda pointless. Literally looking at gparted on linux as I type this annnnndddd......no. I assume it requires a unmount which then borks the whole deal? Because it doesn't give that copy optionat all. Plus it doesn't give you the option for the entire drive with partition structure or raw options that I can see. Only sub partitions in the tree.

use Macrium - but do it ALL within that 30 day trial period. It was fairly easy.

Is he speaking English? This is why I hate Linux. Can't you just download an ISO or Zip file, double click and ta-dah???? I've been in endless extraction file after file and no seeing an executable file at all.

It's not so easy when you have a UEFI PC! After copying the different partitions when you reboot, it doesn't work if the target disk is smaller, even if the partitions are identical!
