Holy crap molly, it actually worked. And I did it with a Veracrypt partition, and all the encrypted files are on the other drive now, same passwrd. I used Linux Mint, btw.
Thanks dude.
too bad you didn't show the start process ( how to get and boot into gparted ) -_-
ОтветитьCan I use gparted to clone my Hard drive with unix tru64 operating system ???
Ответитьcan you expland non ntfs/fat32 hard drive like linux?
ОтветитьThanks!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьExcellent! After 5 Windose of, at least, 6 different "Clone," Copy, Partition mangers, and that many, or more Linux partition manager, and you show me THAT?...... 🤕 WOW!........*LOL!* .........Thank you!
Ответитьrescuezilla
Ответитьi would love to apologize to you but from what i can see their is no way that this could possibly work! gparted almost never boots, you have like less then 30% of it ever booting. in this case i see no way that you told it how to boot. you have no flags or mount point it does not even show a mount point so i would be astonished if you got this to boot. there is an option for mounting but i have ever seen it work! you have copied but thats all!
ОтветитьI have a disk that has Windows 10 and ubuntu installed on the same disk in different partitions, will gparted allow me to clone to a bigger ssd and keep my windows 10 and ubuntu dualboot intact?
Ответитьthats how to copy a partition NOT a Disk Clone!
Ответитьmade me read an article 1/10
Ответитьyou used the word CLONE . That is incorrect . you are NOT cloning a bootable drive . You are merely copying it. Very deceptive and ill informed tutorial
ОтветитьHello. I just want to confirm, after doing this, will the other driver be bootable as well, or do I need to install grub to it again in order to be able to boot from it?
Ответитьin my case the copy is gray and not active. What to do, my linux partition is "extended" how to copy it to a new drive?
ОтветитьCould you please remove the word "clone" from the title?
This isn't cloning, it's copying and there is an important difference.
I can see from the comments that quite a few people have wasted time by coming to your video.
Thanks for considering my request.
Make sure you smash the dislike button. Wow this guy is stupid beyond belief.
Ответитьthank u so much
Ответитьthanks you saved my day
ОтветитьIt will be clone all participants with MBR ???
ОтветитьFor a high speed and large m.2 nvme drive should i create an msdos partition table or a gpt partition table. Help. Google sure is like not helpful at all for an answer with this seeing as all of the search results plagiarize from each other and are barely ever relevant.
Ответитьgparted does not let me COPY ...
ОтветитьThis isn't hard drive cloning. The disk isn't bootable.
Ответитьwhat ubuntu are you using it looks nice
ОтветитьWhat flavour of Linux are you using and how is it themed? It's beautiful!
ОтветитьWhat if y partition cannon be copied?..
ОтветитьThis is not cloning a hard drive. It is cloning partitions. So you cannot boot from it.
ОтветитьIf the internal SSD has a larger capacity, would that be a problem? If so, is the cloned drive bootable?
ОтветитьLooking to clone an ubuntu installation on older laptop onto a fast SD drive. Is this the right tutorial?
Ответитьcan i boot using the copy?
ОтветитьAnd people say Linux is better ha! There's cloning software out there that works better in both Mac and Linux. But that's not what GPARTED was really meant for AFAIK. Convoluted "free" software.
ОтветитьWill it inherit the corrupt data from old drive to new drive?
Ответитьcopying is possible, but can't paste to new drive. I am using a usb3.0 flash drive to clone the hard disk...
Ответитьok so this is Not Cloning, this is not bootable. this is just a simple copy of files, but really its USELESS. because most of us want to clone, to a BOOTABLE drive, and this is Not the way. to proper clone you need Clonezilla, or DD clone. dont be fooled by this video, its just a simple way to copy files it its a spare drive for simple files only.
ОтветитьIt's not working. Copy i have in the dark. I can't choose this command.
ОтветитьSo I have not done this before but am upgrading from HDD to SSD. 1 question. Does duplicating like this make the new drive boot like the old drive or is that another step?
ОтветитьDoes NOT work. Descrip page out of date.
ОтветитьThanks for this video!! I'm a Acronis Trueimage guy but it does not support ext4 in Linux. Don't know what the hell they're waiting for.
I'm comfortable with Gparted so I'll try it like this.
is the duplicated hard drive bootable.. is it a clone?
Ответитьmec....on voit rien c'est trop petit......reflechi avant de poster ta vidéo et le son est véry bad
ОтветитьWhen I right click on the partition I want to copy the copy option is grayed out.
ОтветитьI can't copy and paste on my system.
ОтветитьSeems kinda pointless. Literally looking at gparted on linux as I type this annnnndddd......no. I assume it requires a unmount which then borks the whole deal? Because it doesn't give that copy optionat all. Plus it doesn't give you the option for the entire drive with partition structure or raw options that I can see. Only sub partitions in the tree.
Ответитьuse Macrium - but do it ALL within that 30 day trial period. It was fairly easy.
ОтветитьThis isn't drive cloning it's just partition copying. Dislike!
Ответитьyour tutorial sucks bro. wont boot.
ОтветитьIs he speaking English? This is why I hate Linux. Can't you just download an ISO or Zip file, double click and ta-dah???? I've been in endless extraction file after file and no seeing an executable file at all.
ОтветитьI would like to be able to boot that drive that I cloned .. How do I do that ?
ОтветитьIt's not so easy when you have a UEFI PC! After copying the different partitions when you reboot, it doesn't work if the target disk is smaller, even if the partitions are identical!
ОтветитьExactly what I was looking for.
ОтветитьIs it just the reverse to restore..??
What if EUFI drive..??
