Hi everyone! Open sourcing this bot! I am just doing a couple of extra tweaks and security things in order to make it easy to read.

Warning though! The code won't be fun to read! Open sourcing will be an attempt for me to show you what I dealt with and how I did it :)

Should be up by later this week!

Yeah, when the market changes as regularly as it does... and you rely on such a robot.. what happens if your bot is incorrect and needs changing who will program the robot to keep up to par with the markets changes? especially if you plan on letting it fully trade for you and think for you.. how would you even know how to reprogram it? if you chose for so long to stop understanding the market? how do you even know what parameters to program it with? I understand trading and analysis well, and have worked hard to achieve consistent results, and im genuinely curious how anyone finds security in letting a program advance its knowledge of analysis and trading, the market, and managing positions, rather than you!

I wonder if more time was spent running the programs, would they climb themselves out of the +$8 loss. It seems like if they ran for a couple of more days, they would've continued to make consistently similar decisions, resulting in higher wins over losses. And depending on the going rate for the request limits and the cost of the API's, it may turn a profit. But I wouldn't be able to tell without fully understanding the costs involved.

Refine Your Approach to Stock and Crypto Investment: This isn't about merely watching market fluctuations. It's about developing a deep understanding of true value and engaging in comprehensive fundamental analysis. Avoid the pitfalls of impulsive, high-risk trading. Lean on technical analysis, rather than being swayed by short-lived trends. True financial growth comes from making informed, value-driven choices, not just buying low. Elevate your investment journey with a focus on long-term, strategic trading...managed to grow a nest egg of around 4.5 B,tc to a decent 27 B,tc in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Craig Reeder, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape..

so much easier to just keep going with my fav stock, buy each day at roughly the same time and sell a couple hours later for nice profit; generated 10k on a basis of 45k over 2 months xD
and that whilst happily playing rimworld all day long!

It appears that you initiated your bots around November, and while the exact live date is unknown, during that month, SPY witnessed an approximately 10% increase. Notably, tech-focused stocks outperformed others, aligning with the broader market trend where the technology sector experienced significant growth. This phenomenon is often captured by the saying, "In a rising tide, all boats are lifted," emphasizing how every trader can appear skilled during a bullish market.

Drawing from my years of trading experience, I'd like to highlight a theoretical concern regarding your bots.
1) Bot 1 seems to utilize RSI but optimizes its parameters based on historical data, a practice known as overfitting. This approach may lead to a breakdown when applied to future data.
2) Bot 2 faces a challenge related to the theory of market efficiency, as stock prices often reflect information before it become widely covered by news outlets, resulting in missed opportunities and market whips.
3) As for Bot 3, it seems no feedback is necessary XD.

In my quest for the perfect trading strategy, I've come across Renaissance Investment's Medallion fund, the only group that seems to have achieved the elusive success that many traders aspire to attain. Achieving a 66% cagr from 1988 to 2018 without a single negative year. I really hope you will take a look at this fund and see if you can reveal their strategy.

This is what the highest tier traders do constantly. Only difference is they have a brokerage license or know someone who does, so they pay 0,00 % in fees. They have billions in liquid assets at their disposal, so instead of 10.000$ they might trade 15.000.000$ in a single trade. Besides that they get information on market updates / news anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of hours before news or market prices are actually posted / updated.

It's getting this news slightly earlier (even if just a couple of seconds), that makes all of the difference. Add in enough data over time from doing this for years on end.. Now you can increase profits by leveraging your trades. This is why when you see a stock price suddenly decrease, and look up on news articles, you might find one freshly posted with negative news.. Or one might pop up a few minutes after looking for relevant news. It's those high end traders who get that information early who start having an impact on the price long before a traditional investor can follow.

The more money is involved, the worse this gets. There are trading groups for which the entry requirement is 1.5 billion dollars in personal capital. Those groups will short a stock and by sheer amount of money to play with, get to manipulate the price. I know one billionaire in person. When Bitcoin hit 69.000 $ for a short lived moment, he told me when the price would drop down to 30k. He then recommended buying back and selling before the 42k mark, after which it would drop under 20k over the course of a couple months. He was spot on, not accurate on the exact days, but general timeline he knew exactly what was going to happen (months in advance).

Turns out rich people know people who own the trading platforms, have a view on leveraged trading positions. They can calculate how much they need to sell to start a domino / cascading effect of leveraged position liquidations. Which is why unregulated assets such as crypto, where leverage can be 1:5.000 because of lack of international regulation are so easily manipulated. This isn't limited to crypto however, this happens with all the publicly traded stock.

I'm honestly amazed your bots made profitable investments, given you don't have equally fast access to price changes and investment news. A cool coding project for sure!

I hope you're able to run some longer tests with these bots some day. 3-4 days is not really enough time to see much stock movement, and while I don't stay up to date with market trends, someone in the comments said that you got lucky and managed to pick a time to run the test when the markets had a general upturn so if that's true, the results of this test doesn't really speak much to the viability of doing something like this on a longer timescale.

Doing it for real would probably mean having to carefully parse a lot more news data and add a lot more trend and market analysis parameters though, so it might not be a great idea from a financial perspective to do it.
I know that at least eToro has a virtual trading mode where you don't use real money. I don't know if they have any APIs that you could use, but maybe it would be possible to just feed it the market data and have it output it's purchases to a local database or something.

You didn't talk about per trade fees from accounts. Nobody even wants to touch day traders around here. But if you find something that does, it is set up to just rack in your money whenever you do any trading. Plus all the stock tip websites are all paid "pump and dump" sites designed to make you buy when the big guys wanna sell.
