what about a unreal 4 game where the game caracters think they are the real people living in the real world. i was thinking about a game where the game caracters have their own reality window from the animated eyeballs of the game caracters where a neural net reconstruct the external world based on training where we can debug in a sense see what the caracter actually see and where it uses its built in learning feature to wire together graphics by using a self similar concept to relate information. i was thinking if a artifical neural networks could learn to drive, why can't it learn to separate information by probability just like learning to drive and then use this in next turn to rerecognize objects it have already separted from the virtual world before. this way i was thinking you could have game caracters playing a kind of reality game where the job of the gamer is to observe and guide the game caracters and improve their learning or simply watch them learning by themselves. the gamer could be the one creating the world landscape and decide how many people to spawn into the game. i think the next thing would be to integrate audio processing in the same network and relate audio data to visual data and then perhaps in some future version of that give the sims the ability to smell. having a bunch of dumb ai caracters in hd resolution graphics that learns over time would be somthing entertaining to explore. of course its only for intelligent minded people and not those mindless war gamers.

Hello,
I am aiming to create complex "thinking" for my NPC characters.

Like react this way when it sees smoke or grab a fie extinguisher if it sees fire or put its feet on a table if getting angry.

Not just run away, chase and attack.

I know Blueprints get very heavy with NPC characters.

I also heard nativevisation of BP for NPC characters can be problematic.

Also BP doesn't really talk to behavioral trees.

So how can this be done?

Can one build part of the NPC character' behavior with a state machine and then just trigger a switch to behavioral trees?

In other words you split it up between BP and behavioral trees.

Thank you :-)

Why would you ever keep anything other than Windows and some software in C:\? I assume they had a bunch of extra stuff on the Desktop or smthing, having 0% free space basically means ur out of virtual memory. So it's gg :D

Ugh, that teleporting in VR games is so dumb. I remember hearing about skyrimvr and was like awesome, then saw it's all teleporting and I face-palmed. It's just a game, people talking about getting dizzy need to man up. Every game should at least have two options because there is no way I'm playing any game where I have to repeatedly teleport everywhere I want to go.

Anyways, 22 minutes in and liking the stream. I can't wait to be able to really have a good trip on writing a behavior tree.

The previous streams have been good but I wish they would spawn the AI like you're supposed to instead of just placing it in the scene. For some reason I'm having trouble getting spawned AI to work but the placed ones work fine and I think I'm putting my code in the wrong place maybe.

Glad to see people running the stream have a sense of humor. Way better than just sitting awkwardly while we wait for the engine to load.
