hundred percent agree. i love my 7 string but drop c will always be my go to. it feels like home.

@MusicIsWin You should hear what Monolord and Conan have to offer. It’s not the same tone but heavier than any of these guys you mentioned…except Gojira, they’re awesome.

Drop C is great. Weve played shows and people thought we were in drop A. If you write heavy shit its gonna sound heavy

Only the player and how they use the tuning they are in when writing the riff that makes it heavy. If you need a certain tuning to be heavy, then you are not.

You can just play any Children of bodom riff and it will slap. They made me fall in love with drop C tuning, such a cool band.

The thint about drop C is that it melodically is a tension builder when you hit that open C.

Drop C is amazing but D standard is my go to.

I’d throw in Static-X “Push it” for a fun drop C song.
And while not really drop C (actually C standard) tune, but “Dead bury their dead” by arch enemy is as heavy as anything here.
Ridiculously easy to play, but man! People lose their $#!t for that song!
Now, that said, drop C simply can’t be the heaviest tuning…just the lowest that sounds good.
Why not? “The thing that should not be”, that’s why 🤘🏼💪

B flat is a waaaaaaaaay heavier tuning. Bands like Otep made it mainstream. Then A tuning with bands like Korn. C tuning was cool for a week..... Until I went to B to learn Slipknot.

Playing neon on electric wirh that much reverb really took it away from the song. You should of played that on a acoustic like Mayer did. That's what gave it it's character

How low the tuning is, has nothing to do with how heavy the song is. Otherwise, people would turn the bass up so you can actually hear it in the mix
