Cutting corners is common practice, few will ever appreciate the amount of details and effort some put into their works.

However, those who do go the extra mile deserve some respect for trying with all their heart, because often those who go the mile will be the ones to find the most success. Passion is required in order to put every mile into a work, and those with passion will give out the best works more often than not.

As a drummer I feel your pain. Bring able to tell when this shit is animated incorrectly or when someone plays wrong is annoying, and it's the same with me when I can tell when people are out of time in clapping, or other things that require timing which pissed me off as well

To be fair in the movie, that piano had just been in a serious flood and building collapse, it was held together with bungie straps.
You really think it was anything close to in-tune anyway?

I think the animators did try to make the Piano section as real as possible since it was only off by a few notes, if it was actually on the right note they would need to change the pov and his body movement a bit with how 3D animation work.

I thought the animation for this movie was cute. It didn’t read as lazy to me. They probably just aren’t piano players. (I know the poster of this video is just teasing but I’m responding to the more derisive comments)

Animation and instruments don't go well together. I used to believe that accuracy was the most important thing in animation but in reality is the illusion of that accuracy.

For example, the body not only twists and rotates in animation but also breaks bones and moves apart entirely to give the motion the illusion of accurate or stylized movement and physics, such as the elbow overlap which isn't in any way realistic but it looks a lot more visually pleasing.

All of that of course also works with the camera angle, most dramatic stylized movements break the entire body entirely, so much so that I other angles it may look like a snake or as if the mod glitch out of its mind and broke but from the camera angle it may look incredible and believable.

I don't think animators need to give shit to please a bunch of assholes on the internet

No one cares what animators have to say to defend themselves. We all know its badly animated when it comes down to the actual notes they are depicting. We still want to hear the actual sounds though because it is funny😂

Anything that involves playing an instrument when animating is going to look wrong because it is so much extra work that the animator probably won't get paid for in the first place or anyone who hasn't played an instrument to notice. Only people who play anything will notice that it's not exactly right but it's not a big deal. I know that they are playing it. I think playing the drums is and would be hardest thing to animate because there is a lot of motion that goes on when playing the drums than with other instruments.

Be for real now, you don't even need to start on "camera angle" this "composition" that. You are animators who likely don't play the Piano. Do you guys actually think the animator learned the notes, took the time to set it up perfectly and realized "it looks funny when he plays it right, I'll make him play it wrong" ? Nobody is expecting 100% accuracy on musical instruments played by cartoon animals in a medium where characters rarely have the right amount of fingers. Why is it such a big deal to animators, it's a fucking gorilla, your work isn't shit just because the realism is off, nobody even said that xD. Stating that the Piano isn't being played correctly isn't saying "This animation is poor quality".

Why on earth should animators spend all the extra tedious hours just to please a handful of autistics that want the animation to be note for note correct lmfao it's a goddamn kids movie (I'm tizzed tf out I know it would be super satisfying guys but it's literally not worth the effort to please .2% of the targeted audience)
