How to Use the Windows 11 Multiple Desktop Feature!

is there a way so u can save the layout of 1 desktop and open it again at a later time and have it auto launch them windows to where they were originally?

Microsoft Windows is moving from Bad to Worse.

This feels like a missed opportunity to allow the use of actually creating proper multiple desktops. I assumed I could make one for 'Personal', another for 'Gaming' and again for 'Work' each with it's own background and specific app shortcuts. This feature feels more like an app tab manager rather than multiple desktop creator.

Always disappointed with all changes Microsoft makes. Every OS and App becomes more and more dumbed down.

Someone please explain the difference between this virtual desktop compared to windows 10 multi desktops?
Windows 10 if I wanna change desktop I can just press Win+Tab
I can drag the applications to the different desktops just like these to keep my work space tidy
I can also rename them

So far the only difference between Windows 11 and Windows 10 desktops is the background can be different.
The applications on the taskbar transfers over
The apps on the desktop transfers over

Sounds like a sales gimmick that people didn't realise they could already do in Windows 10 Imo

Windows 11 Multiple Desktop is a FAKE, since i can'not put diferente icons on each one

Windows is very bad on multiple desktops with monitors. When you change the desktop on a single screen it changes all screen. However on MacOS when you change the desktop it only changes the desktop of the screen where the cursor is on at that moment. I hope Microsoft develops this simple feature soon.

how to make two different desktops different to use, means it should have different icons, different sticky notes on each ? if you know please guide, waiting for your response. Thank You

When I first heard about the multiple desktop feature, I was expecting a second desktop that would be completely different from my original desktop. The second desktop would be a clean slate and I could put only certain icons on it and not have my original desktop be as cluttered. Instead, all I got was an exact copy of my original desktop. Any changes I made with the second desktop would also happen with my original desktop so I couldn't make any changes. I thought that maybe my particular computer had a malfunction with the multiple desktop feature but no, the multiple desktop feature was working as designed and that's the problem. On the original desktop, I can bring everything up and reduce what I'm not using. Then I can hover over the taskbar and easily switch to the different applications that show. I don't really need multiple desktops. Having each new desktop only with their own set of icons would be useful, fun and help with keeping things organized. Hopefully, this can be the case after future updates.

Ik that I'm a little late, but I got a question, is it good to use double desktops for the live, bc I don't have multiple computers and I would like to open things without appearing on the stream, so can you guys telle if it's good or no?

Challenge: Now show us, please, how to have (say) three different Desktops, each filled with different browser Tabs, both in Chrome and Edge i.e 3 Desktops, each filled with (different) Chrome Tabs and then 3 Desktops each filled with (different) Edge Tabs. I'm damned if I can discover how to do it.

when I double click a picture it always opens on my second desktoop and then I have to move it to my first one. How to set the default of which window an app opens? Any ideas?

I’m trying to stream games while having my chat on my secondary monitor but I can’t seem to move the game to the monitor I want. And when I go to move the monitors physically I can’t get my mouse to the other monitor. Can someone help me out?

It seems you can’t have customized taskbars for each desktop? For example, just office apps pinned to “Office desktop” and then browsers pinned only to “Browsers desktop”.

I need different desktop shortcuts on each window, which is not available.

It is stupid to call this Desktop. It is more like windows management (I mean literally the windows, not the whole OS). When I first saw this feature, I was excited thinking I could actually have multiple different desktops with work-related shortcuts, folders, etc., on one desktop and entertainment and game app shortcuts and folders on another desktop. But I was disappointed as soon as I tried experimenting. This is a useless feature that will go unappreciated, just like the animated desktop background of Windows vista.

This feature is not very intuitive and lacking so many obviously needed features that it's not ready for Release. IMHO.

biggest annoyance is when connecting another monitor/display, when you switch desktop on one monitor it does the same on the other monitor, extremely annoying for workflow. I want the desktop with photoshop to STAY on my second display even when i switch on the main screen

I feel like there was some Microsoft engineer meeting where the boss demanded they add something else to Windows 11 that could be easily mentioned as a bullet point under "Features" and they were all ready to end the day so they came up with this stupid idea just to go home.

The biggest missing feature is the lack of ability to have shortcuts on different desktops. I can use the taskbar to get the focus of any app window I want that is minimised.

MS needs to make separate desktop folders. When you switch make it like you moved to another computer with shared access to C drive
