Next-Gen Gaming Dialogue at its finest

Forspoken is truly one of the games of its time!

I was playing Xenogears and there was this scene where Fei confesses his guilt to Elly. How he accidentally destroyed his village when he just wanted to protect them from the attacking soldiers. No voice acting. Just great dialogue and background music and it made me immersed to it.

Now compare that great scene to this garbage.. Square soft was producing quality rpgs like chrono trigger, chrono cross, xenogears and the older ff series.

Man square really get fucced up and never been the same after the enix merger. They still have dragon quest and it aged so much better than the garbage nomurian fanfic ff7 fake remake.

Cringey lines and voice actress aside, the animation is a nod to the unrelenting terror in Polar Express.

Definitely one of the gaming momments of all time.

This is the problem with trying to have "realistic" dialogue in fiction because at times it ends up making characters sound excruciatingly annoying and painful to listen.

You know that dialogue would've been a little worst if she was thinking she was dreaming . Like when you know you are dreaming you know you can't get hurt and all that . Still a sh!tty game tho

I didnt think it was possible to top Marvel's level of cringe dialogue...but damn.

Even the fact that this is in a video game with recording room sound quality and weird animations makes this not just cringe, but also extremely awkward.

Seems like most developers these days took inspiration from Bubsy the Bobcat and tried to surpassed it with their protagonists, having dialouges so unnecessarily terrible and unbearably cringe that Bubsy is becoming more tolerable by comparison.

Idunno, I think it's fine, and sounds like a reasonable reaction for someone who just out-of-nowhere got transported to another world.
