Fun fact the reason why the Wario apparition isn’t in the final build of super Mario 64 is because when Wario gets Mario the game outside of it gets the players house on fire and Nintendo thought that it isn’t safe for that to happen so they had to remove the Wario apparition from the final game

The reason the key was cut is because the N64 could probably never handle 8 big boos in one level or the game would crash. Plus there would not be a way to get upstairs (unless getting 1 key can get you upstairs.)
