Swapped my monthly roadtrips to germany for belgium last year. Awesome city centers for walks. They even beat ours in Holland. I have to drive very deep into germany from holland to find equally beautifull city centers.

I do not think that Belgium borders on Holland! Zeeland, Noord Brabant and Limburg - yes! And even the Netherlands. But certainly NOT Holland! Not even Zuid Holland.

As a Belgian I wouldn't recommend Leuven, Tournai or Mons. And in the southern part of the country there is a lot of beautiful nature and landscapes you didn"t mention.

I see churches get a lot of attention though they don't deserve that. We never wanted them. They are the result of a bad and wrong system, the religious people have kept us dumb and poor by brainwashing us and indirectly stealing from us, making believe we were generous by "offering". Now we know better and most of us have become atheists and proud of it. Any religious building is a disgrace to us.

Not my first choice but Belgium has some good points. I suggest Brugge as a base. From there everything is in easy reach.
