Great video as usual. Appreciate it especially since I’m an IBEW member as well… so I’m a little biased.

Do work boots not need steel toes in america? Pretty much every place that needs safety shoes in Canada requires a safety toe.

Most boots on these sites that have steel toes are like logger and linesmans that are 8"+ height with massive heels.

I bought some Brunt boots about a year and a half ago. I do have to say they were comfortable right out of the box. But they did get worn down pretty easily, especially the heel. I work in a warehouse so I don't need a boot that's super tough or for harsh work conditions. I am looking for a new pair now. Something for hot conditions.

I am on my second pair of chippewa boots. First pair, with cleaning and oiling lasted 4 years. The new boots are not of the same quality. They are coming apart in a little over a year. Didn't care for any of these but thanks for the info.

I'll get a pair of comfortable cat boots for £70 they'll last 5-6 months but my foot is the exact measurements that the boot was designed for which is size 9 were if someone is size 11 or 7 for example the measurements become warped and are probably better off getting a custom boot.

Definitely not going overboard. That’s actually a great point. As someone who often works next to live traffic, I can tell you from experience that focusing on painful boots, or even an injury caused by your boots can make you less safe. Just as much as complacency. That’s actually a good thing to consider when thinking about boot comfort. Hard to imagine a good or bad pair of boots can make the difference between you going home at night or not. But they can.

I'm actually shopping for a new pair of work boots now. Looking for the very best. Right now I'm wearing Redwing. And they are hard to beat. I'm an electrician. Now I see in your video the guy wearing the white sole boots. Me myself I can't wear them. To me and I've tried many boot brands and no matter how much money it cost or what name brand. White sole boots are slick as snot on wet concrete and you will bust your ass. Even if concrete is dry but you just walked through wet grass. I'm wanting to try chippewa work boots but it'd be an expensive test if I don't like them. I'm on my feet 15 hours a day anywhere from driving to walking concrete to climbing ladders all day. . I might be using a shovel. Then to a service call commercial or residential to industrial. Then on concrete all day or a ladder . If I could find the perfect work boots I dint care if they cost a $1000.00 a pair along as I get 3 years use out of a pair. That being said my Redwing last 2 to 2.5 years. A work boot should be tuff yet as light as possible and slip resistant. And being I'm an electrician non steel toed. But should also be good looking enough it could double as a boot and be comfortable. I'm sure everyone reading my text and watching your video would agree price is not the issue. But we need these qualities in a work boot. Plus besides being an electrician I hike and I farm. And I hunt and fish. Is it too much to ask for a boot that fits my lifestyle

No safety toe boots on a construction site? I’m also in the same union as him.

What’s the widest, best, safety toe boot? Most important for me are the boots being wide.

I’ve been wearing my Timberland pros, composite toes for 2 years. They feel fine, still going strong, they’re just too narrow. I like barefoot shoes.

I usually just end up going with Ariats. I dumpster boots within a year just due to the nature of my work. Nothing survives. So for me there’s no reason to buy a $500-800 pair of custom boots for them to be totally unrepairable within a years my boots LIVE in oil, hydraulic fluid, water, greases, chemicals, high heat from welding amongst many other horrible conditions. No matter how you try to take care of your stuff nothing lasts long. Pants, work boots and shirts are disposable in my line of work so for me this is what I end up having to do.

Limmer Boots are awesome and made in New Hampshire (yes, that’s in the USA). They take 7 measurements of each foot and the uppers are 1 piece of leather with a 5-row stitch on the inner side. They are primarily for hiking but many men wear them for YEARS as work boots, and they can be re-soled. They also offer ready-to-wear “stock sizing” if you don’t want to wait for custom-fit boots. Those also save you some money. I have (2) pairs and I love them. When you buy them you can also have them apply TUFF TOE (a coating) to the tow area.

I'm talking which mock toe boots can withstand this type of wear and tear. Everyone in my department swear by therogoods but what other brands can hold up.

Not impressed with this particular video comparison. There are a lot of really great work boots that run in the $250 range that make a lot more sense comfort wise, wear wise, money wise. Burning $500. to trash a pair of boots is senseless or I should say, common senseless. Thorogood boots are a great alternative and will be comfortable and get the job done. Instead of resoleing those beat up Nicks, you could instead purchase two brand new pair of thorogood boots that will last every bit as long and you could also have them resoled if you wanted. Again, no common sense here imho
