You've given me some great ideas on how to practice this movement safely. 60 years ago, this was such an easy movement for me in high school - just like it is for the person demonstrating in this video. Now, all that ability is gone. It's amazing how just weightlifting doesn't work all the muscles necessary to do this exercise. I finally realized my main fear was due to my lack of grip strength. Didn't worry about that at 17. So now I do no foolish moves. I am bringing all my muscles up to strength together while developing the brain-muscle connections. So, I just kick my feet up towards the bar and resist gravity as they come down. It's like jumping up to a completed pullup position and then resisting as gravity pulls you down. I suspect that after awhile I'll develop the strength to actually do the movement. Kicking my feet up and resisting sure is making me sore and tired the next day.
ОтветитьThank you, most videos when you’re looking for skinning the cat exercises beginner. They just go straight into it. I’m like where is the beginner videos where the person a bit fat, has some strength, but can’t just lift themselves like that yet 😆.

ОтветитьI was wondering how I could do this safely since all I have readily available are pull up bars and I was afraid I was going to kill myself. This is logical and straightforward whereas a lot of tutorials have been along the lines "...and that's it. If you're totally jacked it won't be a problem."
