ОтветитьHello, I am Marcio...Brazilian, I am a brazilian sign language interpreter...I would like to learn some ASL could any ASL interpreter help me?
ОтветитьSo sorry to hear that...I got to meet her once and chat for a while. Such an inspiring person to spend time with. Am thankful I got to meet her in person.
ОтветитьHi! I would not let that bother you. When you are entering into a new culture, sometimes you are clearly labeled an outsider. Just plow forward and continue to learn. Years later when you are more proficient you will move past that intitial bias when socializing. Ms. Marbury was a fabulous communicator...I hope you got to enjoy her storytelling ;oD
ОтветитьWe love and miss you, Dr.Marbury!!
ОтветитьI had never experienced blatant discrimination until I met Nathie Marbury; I went to a Deaf conference at the Oregon Coast several years ago- she was manning the check in booth. When I came in to register she looked sideways at her friend and signed 'hearing' in her lap with an expression on her face that clearly meant it was not a good thing. When she caught that I saw it I could tell she was embarrassed but it is still hurtful. I will never ever forget that. I hadn't even DONE anything to her.
ОтветитьI am saddened to hear of her death. She was a key part in my ASL learning experience. R.I.P. Ms. Marbury
