Rock-A-Doodle. The Movie That Almost KILLED Don Bluth... 's Career...

I didn't know this movie was so hated lol I used to watch it all the time 😅

The Duke literally vomits lucky charms kool-aid glitter

How to Fix this Movie:

- Keep the 2D animation, (most) characters designs and the good songs;
- Chanticleer be actually the central character;
- Edmond having a better voice actor and and have always been a Kitty;
- A real introduction to we meet the characters better (like, 20 minutes before Chanticleer leaves the farm);
- No narration;
- Remove the Live Action scenes;
- Chanticleer actually doesn't have the power to rise the Sun up, instead, the main conflict starts when the Farm Animals notice that they still needs Chanticleer to wake them up to do the farm jobs in time. This would actually give a good message about "You can be useful, despite not having god powers".

i remember watching this as a kid, i remember felling fear at multiple parts of the beginning but i was entertained the full time. also i love the main characters voice it just tiny and sweet and innocent.

Bluth was overrated. A great animator for sure, but he had a thing for really weird scripts.

I found Rock-a-Doodle amazingly entertaining for guilty pleasure so in other words I don't deem it as boring nor bad I just deem as forgotten gem

Dude, the thing that most bothers me about this movie and other Don Bluth movies is his obsession with giving animals clothes. As in, he gives them the most random clothes imaginable, even if it makes their design seem out of place or downright non-functional. Why is the dog wearing shoes? He's not even bipedal. Shouldn´t he wear shoes on all fours in any case? They look so ridiculous and cumbersome. Why is he so intent on tying the shoes? Why not just dump if they give him so much trouble? Just be a dog, man. Don´t wear shoes. Hell, I'm not a dog and I think shoes are a drag. Same could be said about the other animals. Hell, in Thumbellina he goes as far as to have baby chicks hatch from the egg ALREADY wearing clothes! Why?? It is not mandatory for cartoon animals to wear clothes, and if they don´t add anything, why bother? Surely it would be easier to animate them without? I don´t know, I don´t know. I'm surprised he resisted that urge with Land Before Time :B

Yeah, it's his party, he can make animals wear clothes if he wants. I just want to know why, what his process is. If anyone reading this knows of any interviews etc where he talks about it let me know XD

It’s not nearly as bad as you’re making it out to be. I used to have this on VHS and would watch it religiously as a kid. I just found it on Prime for me and my boy to watch he loved it.

Loved this too not because it's a fvcking masterpiece but due to its acid trip nature.I also loved your take and that voice from little shop of horrors in a sexy anthro pheasant.😂

it was the first vhs movie i owned as a kid along with an old brick tv that had a vhs player built in..i now own the dvd along with the pebble and the penguin will always love the movie no matter my age

I loved this movie when I was 6 years old but nowadays as an adult I recognize its massive flaws. I think the voice cast and creative animation make it watchable, but the story choices and plot holes are problematic to say the least. I also had a French teacher in middle school who loved the movie.

As a kid when i watched this movie it was trippy from the story the live action bits right fown to the animation it feels more like a weird fever dream you have and when you wake up to tell your parents or something but you cant remember the dream at all

I Honestly Don't Like having Edmond to be the Protagonist of the Movie because of How He is Voiced Throughout the Movie.

I honestly like this movie, not that bad, not confusing at all, and i literally forget about the Narrator. Also edmond is adorable, if the disney version existed, then we wouldn't of had one of the most adorable characters Don ever created.

Personally, this is a guilty pleasure movie for me. It's mixed with a bit of ironic enjoyment with Edmound's bad acting / voice acting and it's batshit insane story and unironic enjoyment with stuff like the animation, voice acting (excluding Edmond), and it's songs (I know a lot play in the background, but I listened to them seperately and I personally like the songs "Sun Do Shine" "Rock A Doodle" and "Treasure Hunting Fever". I just enjoyed a lot of this movie, to the point where I call this a genuinely good movie and even an underrated gem. I hope this makes sense. I just really like this movie

Maybe Chantecler crowing, while not what actually makes the sun rise, was what kept the sun up in the sky at all?

Where did that sun go? It is so weird how as soon as it came up it just went back down not even a few minutes later. That’s so weird!

Thank God that Thumbelina, Rock A Doodle, Trolls in Central Park and Titan A.E Never got sequel because what would you actually do in those Sequals?

I loved this movie as a kid because I liked Don's animation style and birds. But yea it's a pretty shit movie. XD
