Skyrim - All 18 Player Homes Ranked

Since I found it my player home has been Sjel Blad. I just wish there was a quest to take it over, or a tie in with the civil war. I also wish it got finished, but even still, it's still my favourite of all time. Clockwork Manor is my second favourite. Cumbria House is my 3rd favourite.

It always amazes me how little you get for the huge price of Proudspire. But since Solitude is the capital, it kind of makes sense that living is more expensive. At least the bed in the tavern costs the same.

Why didn't you include Castle Volkihar? I know that you can only get it if you take the vampires' side in Dawnguard, but it's one of the best homes you can get in Skyrim.

I always take over Anise's cabin, just northwest of Riverwood. That little cabin remains a staple of my play-throughs for early game.

Golden Hills Plantation is glitched. Kids disappear when you tell them to move there. If you have a fix, please help! For Hendraheim, there are no planters in the base AE. Tundra Homestead doesn't have a wood chopping block, either.

Helijarchen hall my beloved. The view and vibe is just too perfect. Even the creation club armories arent enough to replace it for me. Its my skyrim home, every playthrough.

Don't forget at Lakeview the massive, hidden bandit camp in your neighbors house and the vampires at the mill up the road.

Love bloodchill cavern but there is a player home mod on nexus that is like that but turned up to 11. Huge area for planting alchemical plants, large area for blacksmithing and enchanting with plenty of storage and more weapon racks, plaques and mannequins then you know what to do with, as well as some honestly overpowered weapons and some rings that will make a vampire’s abilities even more powerful depending on which one you put on….it’s called spider wick manor.

I am a gluten for punishment and I constantly forget where I have left all my loot, I have to many homes, as I have them all. An admitted hoarder of everything. Thank you so very much for this journey, it was a delight

I feel like breezehome is best for 3 things, good central hub for skyrim players, it feels like its a perfect constract between impedial and stormcloak, and its the place every new player gets on their 1st playthrough, it just feels right.

What is it with Creation Club content and being depressing. The girl outside Hendraheim has a note on her that is really really sad. And Duskfang's dungeon has a pretty sad story.

I thought you could get a large wall and guards for the Lakeview Manor to help deal with the "constantly under attack" problem, but maybe that was a mod I downloaded. Hmm.

Windstad Manor: The fish hatchery - from which all the fish regularly disappear, rendering it almost useless.

The fire in Breezehome: Giving off smoke and sparks - right under the gappy wooden floor of your bedroom. NOT going to end well!

Gallows Hall: Its unworkably glitched! Enter and your only way out is to go back to your last save!

Hearthfire buildings: Trophy room: useless. Store room: useless. Library tower: useless (books disappear from the shelves!). Greenhouse: Irritatingly noisy - constant insect buzzing, though the only place you can harvest creep cluster. Alchemy and Enchanting towers: Duplicate features ALREADY in the house. Bedroom: only useful if you have family. Which leaves Kitchen and Armoury....and you can only have ONE of the two! REALLY frustrating.
Also a lot of time and ABSOLUTELY HUGE amounts of money and materials required to build, especially Iron.

I just can't be bothered with Nchuanthumz! Yeesh! Too big, too hard to get to, even with fast travel. Lowest tier for me.

As there's a glitch that will no longer allow you to harvest Creep Cluster except in the greenhouses in the three "Hearthfire" houses, at least you can grow it at Goldenhills and get it from the food produce cupboard, up to a max of 27. Creep Cluster, along with Mora Tapinella and Scaly Pholiota make a good potion for levelling up Alchemy to legendary over and over to get perks and increase overall character level. The potion is also valuable enough to remove your money problems and get speechcraft up when you sell them (Tip: sell them singly). And no mod/cheat needed.

Sjel Blade Castle is the only home everyone need.

The real problem with Hendraheim—a problem where mods aren't on option if you're on the Switch, like me—is that a lot of the weapon and item holders are bugged, and can cause your stuff to either drop, disappear, or become irretrievable when you come back to the damn place. For all I know, it's still like that—the last time I used it as my home, I was super careful with it and used the weapon racks and item holders sparingly.

Quick note about Shadowfoot Sanctum: it DOES have an armory with a full enchanting, alchemy, and display setup. It's hidden inside the wardrobe closest to the entrance, on the left side going in. It has a false back.

I always enjoy concept of building your own home in hearthfire. Heljarchen hall would be me top pick from the three. Even if the snowy climate is not my first choice, it makes up for it with its location. The nearby farm and the Whiterun visible in the distance make that we don't feel secluded.

Honeyside is the only townhouse with have direct exit to outside the cite. Perfect for all the "shady" characters who want to come and go without attracting attention.

Man my oldest vanilla Skyrim playthrough I built Lakeview and god stepping into that house the first time after finishing the full thing and furnishing it was such a great moment.

Hendraheim and Breezehome always will be my favorite. The display of Hendra and the convenience of breeze will slap forever
