I see no harm in having the flags in the game at all, but I still feel like politics, religions, sexual orientation and all that really personal stuff doesn't really fit into a game. Especially considering the implications it can have (I.e. using some aspects of your personally to accuse killers of tunnelling you out and thereby discriminating against you)
