Buying physical game cartridges: Can be played on any switch no matter what account but you wont keep the saves. Also you can get the gold Nintendo points to use on buying other games for free.

Buying digital games: You can save the data to a cloud so if you buy a new switch you keep all your saves and you don't have to worry about losing the cartridges, BUT they take up lots of storage and you can't play the game on other switches unless you move the save cloud over.
