Thanks for the teardown! Just curious, do you know what the idle power consumption of the UDM Pro is? I.e. with a few connected devices and no more than a few mbps of traffic? Based on my research, it's 25-30W which is too high especially at current prices, may be the reason I don't get it.
ОтветитьI have just bought a UDM SE and was a little concerned about the heat on the top right hand side. Your vid put me at ease as this is where the heat sink is along with a thermal pad to the top of the case. Feel happier now that I know what’s going on in that area of the machine. Thanks 😊
Ответитьunfortunately, there seems to be no way to upgrade the RAM. These constantly max out their RAM and then refuse to load the web interface until they are restarted (which sometimes has to be forced).
ОтветитьOne thing I was surprised with was how quiet this device is. When something is rack mounted, I'm used to the fans spinning up to full speed on start up and making a ton of noise. This thing was very quiet on startup. Thanks for making this video!
ОтветитьDo you think this product is ok?
Ответитьcan you make a video on the udm-se please
ОтветитьCameron Gray more like Cameron Gay
ОтветитьДиктор ваты в рот набрал? Как разбирать такой английский?
ОтветитьWhile watching, I thought that the playback speed was 1.5x, you speak so fast! I liked it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьAnd that is why you can't LAG the 1G ports together! Simple hardware limitation. Keep up the good work! 😊
ОтветитьWhy do all Unifi products get so damn hot / warm all the time?
ОтветитьI question the lifespan of the eMMC. The fact that they don't let you use the installed drive for logs or other changing data or stats is a bit annoying. Great device, software is a mess at the moment.
ОтветитьWhat do you do in your day job Cameron?
ОтветитьIf you a hard drive in, the fans will spin at no less than 50% even if it's -30 degrees in the room. Ubiquiti have taken drastic steps to ensure people can't turn it off or down when a hard drive is installed even when the fan running makes no sense.
ОтветитьYou sound like Elon Musk
Ответить25g doesn't use QSFP+ but SFP28. QSFP+ (for ethernet) only does 40G (4*10) and QSFP28 (4*25). And of course now you also have (Q) sfp56 for (4*) 50 and qsfp28DD and qsfp56DD for 200 resp 400Gbps per port. (eg MX9116 blade switch using many 200g ports to interconnect blade chassis systems or Z9432 as spine switch with 32x 400G ports to connect to leaf switches in high bandwidth data centers. More info on the Dell networking websites
ОтветитьThanks for the look inside your Ubiquiti! My customers don't want me opening up their brand new switches and wasting time.
ОтветитьNew video quality is excellent 👍👍😎
ОтветитьNow I know where to hide all my drugs.
ОтветитьI wonder if you could hack this thing to attach another harddrive internally by connecting to the USB bus or existing sata bus with sata multiplexer...
ОтветитьDid you try to 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' over ssh to see if it outputs any CPU model info? Looks like it's just running Linux so maybe it even has 'lspci' which would reveal a lot more info.
ОтветитьIt's really a shame that they didn't have 2 HDD caddy's. Would be a great all-in-one solution instead of the NVR and separate PoE switch, but the lack of RAID just stops that
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. Sold all my Unifi gear. I had issues with the Unifi cloud, lost access to the UDM-PRO. Going with Ruijie Network gear for new home network.
ОтветитьTo think Cameron is probably the only person who owns a UDM pro and doesn't call him self a network engineer after setting up a VLAN
ОтветитьIs the cheapest 2 x 10GB SPF+ Router on the market right now.
Ответить🔥🔥🔥
