I hope they self develop this and not co-brand this with some other brand.
ОтветитьI hope they don't bastardize new Celia with a BMW internal, I really hope not.
ОтветитьI would like to see Toyota/Lexus coupes opens door upwards like a Lambo, it's easier to get in and out in a tight carparks.
ОтветитьI will buy this instead of a camry for a sedan-like commuter thats also sporty. Please make this!
ОтветитьNice looking Prius coupe.
ОтветитьNew MR2 would be nice!
Ответитьnext several years...im not interested to listen to that now...LOL
ОтветитьToyota NEEDS to put this new super-4 cylinder in the MR2, not the 1.6. Just like before when the All-Trac and MR2 shared a 3S-GTE, they need to do the same here. The MR2 can fall into the slot that the Corvette used to be, a true affordable sportscar, but it needs power. It needs to be a tunable, 400hp, lightweight machine, with T-Tops and Pop-Up headlights. Keep it around the affordable mark too of $50-60k. Control their awful stealerships from ripping off people as well. Build them in the US to avoid tariffs, as Japan won't buy the MR2 in enough numbers anyways.
If they bring the Starlett here too in WRC-like guise, I will buy one of those as a DD for me too. And, i'll sell the wife's Acura and put her in a Toyota as well, just because I appreciate what Toyota did. Especially if it's a nice little Wrangler fighting FJ cruiser.
Expect HP up to 350ish
ОтветитьMy first car was a MR2 86' in 1992. I now have a Scion TC 2016. Always wanted a Celica, was talking about the Celica GT-Four to a work colleague not later than yesterday, it's like a dream come true.
Ответитьwelcome back Celica! I had one back in the '80s!
ОтветитьSmall car with LARGE Displacement is an ideal Celica. 2.5L in a lightweight car is perfect for a Fuel MPG Sports car. (Toyota Crown Engine)
Ответитьit's not a "coup", it's a "coupé"...
ОтветитьYes Thank You Toyota❤❤ My first car was a 7th gen gt Celica in Red
ОтветитьI have 5th gen, and it's the best
ОтветитьI had a 1985 celica GT-S as my first car back in 1997... and i loved that car.
ОтветитьSold!!!
Ответить🙌
ОтветитьDoes Toyota have to make every single vehicle look alike, Jesus! And I’m talking to YOU other auto manufacturers too.
ОтветитьFabulous David, Toyota will dominate the car industry, with their high quality and excellent engineering.
ОтветитьThat’s a lot of sports car models for one maker. GR Supra, 86, Corolla & Yaris plus MR2 and now a Celica.
Ответить👍 would be a beautiful dream to see the return of the toyota celica on the road again so many people been waiting for this day, the return of a beautiful car is just the dream we all want.
ОтветитьThe GR Corolla is $50,000-$60,000 Cdn , this would start probably around $65,000. That would put it in GR Supra range, unless they discontinue the Supra🤔 Also would like to see a FWD version for us poor middle class people just like the 4th and 5th generations when I started wrenching for Toyota.
ОтветитьI had 2002 Toyota Celica and absolutely loved it! Bravo to Toyota for keeping cars and niche ones at that!
ОтветитьI still love my 7th Gen GT. But I'm in my mid 30's and just sad this didn't happen 10 years ago.
my relationship with the 7th gen is complicated. it's so unbelievably slow, but it handles so well in the mountains that evry time I drive it I love it all over again. I've been trying to get myself to part with it for years now, but I just can't.
its frustrating really.
Sure, more promises that won’t happen
ОтветитьYesssss!!! AWESOME News!!!! I still remember the 1st generation od the Celicas…… late 80’s and early 90’s which was the one that I like the most…
You are awesome sir!!! Thank you for your hard work always sharing the best information since you are japanese and speak the language! That’s a huge blessing! I wish I could speak it too! And Thank you for your hard work and sacrifice traveling to Japan to take the factory tours and collecting the information DIRECTLY from the sources, like Toyota, Lexus and others….
I can’t wait to see and hear what you are going to share with us regarding to your next visit to the Tahara Plant, at Aichi, Japan for the Lexus IS500 (that I bought it), and other models like the 4Runner, Lexus GX550, etc…
God Bless You!!!
I hope it’s not just offered in a hybrid like The Crown.
ОтветитьLove all this info especially “ice”
ОтветитьHonestly, not bringing Celica back as BEV on a dedicated EV platform is a HUGE fail! I understand the nostalgia aspect and focusing solely on that is a problem. Is Toyota wanting to retire the Celica in ten years? Because within 10 years EVs are going to be the desired over ICE, especially ones like this that expect performance. Celica is remembered as a great vehicle and, unfortunately, will be once again. 😢
ОтветитьI had a 1976 Celica GT with back. It was five speed manual and it was the best car ever owned. Plus it looked outstanding. Bring the bring back that model please.
ОтветитьGreetings from Canada thanks for sharing this video about the future toyota from the past 😊
ОтветитьI had an 80 Celica. Would buy this new one ❤
ОтветитьIf the Celica (especially if it's in GT4 trim), MR2, S-FR. and Land Cruiser come to fruition, Toyota is going to be taking big shots across the bow of other manufacturers.
ОтветитьLet me guess, the new celica is going to be sharing it parts with Subaru/bmw
ОтветитьLoL I doubt it…….including GR86….. a total of four sports cars in Toyota range….. to be honest don’t u think too much, especially now demand for sports coupe are all time low…… by the way the rumours from Japanese motor magazines are hardly true…… for the last decades they always mentioned Mazda will bring back RX 7 but where is the new car?
ОтветитьCan’t wait, although I’m not a huge fan of that render design
ОтветитьBring it back with a powerfull TOYOTA MOTOR not a crap bmw please...
ОтветитьIf this doesn’t come back with a manual transmission, Toyota will be dead to me. 😡
ОтветитьOh! The next gen Lexus RC if this comes to the US?
ОтветитьIf it comes back I hope it does look like the rendering here with cleaner look than the new Supra.
ОтветитьI hope it doesn't look like that. Its just a crown coupe. The Celica looked great
ОтветитьUnless Toyota wants to squander on carbon credit purchases they’re going to have to at least have a mild performance hybrid to erase the turbo lag and increase city MPG. A six speed manual will help the highway speed MPG too end. 🤔
ОтветитьNo thanks 🤮.
Unless it's a rear wheel drive manual.
If the FJ mini Hooper, Celiac and MR 2 arrive in the USA, Ford, Buick, Jeep, and Chevrolet will have to cancel their car vehicles. Jeep already cancelled their Renegade upon seeing the FJ cruiser mini Hooper out of FEAR:)
ОтветитьIts about time... Toyota going back to it roots. There is hope for the future.
ОтветитьThe Celica was “alright” at best as a sports car. I can’t anything Toyota could make that would be a better overall value than the GR86, best car for the price.
ОтветитьBest car magazine is bullshit. They claimed many cars decades ago and still never came to fruition.
ОтветитьIs it rear wheel drive? From the looks of the engine it looks like it might be. My questions is why don’t they put this engine into the mr2?
ОтветитьSo it’s a 3sgte
